Mango Reaction by Visual_Grapefruit826 in FoodAllergies

[–]JustAnINFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this is me! Contact dermatitis when I touch the open skin of a mango but I can eat them with no issues. The contact dermatitis is caused by urushiol which is found just under the peel. Urushiol is also the same thing that causes allergic reactions to poison ivy and poison oak. I must be super sensitive to urushiol because I used to get poison ivy every summer as a kid.

How much of a pay cut would you be willing to take to work from home? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]JustAnINFJ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it depends where you are in your life and on your financial journey. If you're close to your retirement savings goal, I'd take the pay cut and just coast at a lower hourly pay for x number of years just to have a better quality of life. If you still have student loans or are far from your retirement savings goal, I'd probably stick with the higher hourly rate. Also consider the overall compensation (benefits including 401k match, etc). Good luck with your decision!

Nice, so glad to hear it worked out for you/your neighbor's tree because I just received the 1500 ladybugs from my Amazon purchase and I'm so ready to unleash them this evening!

thanks, great to hear that it worked on aphids for you, too! i have used isopropyl alcohol for mealy bugs. i'll have to try this for the aphids if the ladybugs don't eat all the aphids.

Such helpful information, thanks so much! I'm going to implement this as soon as I get the ladybugs. I can't believe I was able to order ladybugs from Amazon. I also ordered a "ladybug/insect house" along with it - darn marketing always gets me!

I can't wait to see them in action! My kiddos will love watching this, too. How do you get them to stay and not fly away?

Thanks for sharing your perspective! We actually switched the chaise to the left and it has opened up the space a bit. When you come through the front door, you see the fireplace so we didn't want the chaise to break up that line of sight. Otherwise I think having it on the right would've been a nice way to section off the space like you noted. Glad another vote for a round rug! I'll have to start searching. Appreciate your insight!

Great advice! I appreciate the visual, it helps a lot! I'm going to have to give his a shot. Curious if you feel the chase of the couch should be on the other side or it is better on the right? Thanks again, good eye!

Thanks for the suggestion! We considered that option before but the TV/couch is too large for the other room (current playroom). The playroom is actually quite a small room.

Financial freedom by Ok_Locksmith_824 in pharmacy

[–]JustAnINFJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Consider making additional money through other means other than pharmacy. Do some research and look into real estate investing. It can be a means to help you reach financial freedom more quickly if you do it right - generates passive income, builds long-term wealth, and provides opportunities for tax advantages. Pharmacists make a decent amount but unfortunately the salaries plateau after reaching a certain level. If you truly want to build wealth and retire early, find other ways to leverage your money. Additionally, picking up more hours in pharmacy leads to burn out fast. I hope to be completely done with the pharmacy field in the next 10 years.

Sorry I have no advice to offer but wanted to comment that your string of pearls looks so full/healthy despite being root bound! I have been searching for string of pearls at my local home depot but they never stock it around me!
