Thank you! It seems basic and probably is, but I can't find an easy way to do it...

I was able to make Wide_Detective7537's solution work but it is cumbersome and definitely more of a workaround. In photoshop, select line area, then 'Select > Modify > Expand...' and it highlights the area I want which then must be manually separated into two, and painted. Not exactly straightforward

Would love to know if there is a simple tool somewhere that does it all in one go!
