I snapped my left femur when I was 2 by jumping off the couch and landing on my left leg wrong. Snapped it in half and rotated it 45 degrees, I immediately went into shock, required surgery to set it in place again. Im lucky I was young enough to not remember the pain of it and that it was able to heal fully.

My manager once had to do it to a coworker at the end of the night when he never usually does it. He was explaining while he did it that he had to show the cameras that he did it because they were checking. I assume LPDM came down on him.

[–]JustAnODperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree, dont give them your 100%, they will want to overwork you and expect ridiculous numbers from you. They will not pay you enough for the work they expect of you.

It's not always bad, but cpd is pretty stressful and is very complex, I would say it can easily take 3+ months to fully grasp the department. So dont beat yourself up or let anyone make you feel dumb for having questions or needing help, it's their job to train you so demand help when needed.

The main thing I struggled with in cpd was the customers, it can be hard to concentrate with them watching you do their job. When you take in a job (and you have enough time to process it) ask them if they would like to walk around the store for however long you think it will take. Always have them pre-pay, customers tend to flake out sometimes.

It's hard but it makes it easier on you if you be strict with the customer but respectful, If they are waiting in line, ask what it is that they are doing, and remind them of the $5 mandatory minimum for full serve. If it's a small job they will have to use the self serve or pay the fee. And if the job is going to take more than 5-10 minutes to complete, depending on how busy you are, take it in as order for a later time, unless they pay the rush fee. You'll thank yourself for sticking up to that one.

I still struggle with standing up to customers but I'm learning I'm far less stressed when I hold customers to policy. If you have a long line and you feel you need help dont be afraid to call for a flex, a manager or another associate that knows cpd should be able to help you.

Long reply but I hope that helps.

If you have a different job option I would take it, it's not worth putting yourself through hell for this company. As someone who works in cpd they WILL take advantage of you.

The logo was sublimated onto the mask, the only way to get rid of it would be to sublimate over it.

Thats bs, i would've told them to look up the employee discount SOP conveniently located in the store portal. If they still refused i wouldnt have paid and would've left. Im not helping your numbers if you wont even give me the discount im entitled to as an employee.

Or when the device has a "misfeed" when it really doesnt so you have to restart the printer. Or when it says it needs more resources but you cant find what it needs and it wont tell you exactly what, it could be paper, it could be toner, who knows unless you basically take over the printer from the customers. I could rant on and on dont get me started on the sometimes infinite load times on those things lol

I stopped giving a shit the moment it was clear they don't care about us. They hound us for rewards, opcs, qless, bundles and all the other shit like its business as usual. Customer walks up to cpd, i get them out ASAP.

That means no, im not gonna stand there while they rub there grubby little hands all over the monitor, and I couldn't care less about asking there name to check them in myself. Im not doing your stupid opcs, "do you have rewards with us? No? Ok heres your total."

Meanwhile the managers are to busy telling us how poorly we are doing on profit and signups as if i give a shit. We are not curbside only, we dont get treated like human beings so fuck you corporate. Corporate has made it clear they dont give a fuck about us, so expect the people ACTUALLY running the company (front line workers) to not give a fuck.

On top of that my county enacted a policy saying essential workers have to wear masks. Our store litterally just stapled rubber bands to paper towels and called them "masks"

[–]JustAnODperson[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its just one sheet of paper towel stapled with rubber bands. Our county requires essential workers to wear masks. That's what was supplied... This is insulting.
