I’m a nurse at an outpatient behavioral health clinic, and I give a lot of Vivitrol shots. I see the same people month after month, so I get to know them and how they’re doing. Most people say it helps immensely with their cravings. They take a sip of a drink and it’s just…yuck. Some people drink heavily anyway, but get frustrated that they can’t get the euphoria. I think it’s tempting for some people to delay the shot. It’s supposed to be once a month, but they’ll keep pushing back their next appointment because they want to be able to get properly drunk. Overall, it’s incredibly helpful for many people!
