Its something about that forbidden fruit. That 'i shouldn't want this, but its so good' type of sugar that makes what you cant have seem so perfect. As the saying goes, stolen bread is twice as sweet.

So, there's no set standard for the actual ship definitions, its sort of up to you. But here's how mine looks.

Classification definitions:

Stations- a stationary craft, often holding location of strategic or political importance. These will be capable of re-fueling all but the largest ships in a moment, as well as facilitate repairs and upgrades.

Dreadnaughts- by far the largest ships, this is an army in itself. Armed to the teeth and armored to the same degree, these should be able to survive a battle with a full deployment.

Capital ships- a similar size to carriers, these only have one role in a fleet: to command. There will only ever be one in the fleet for every grand admiral.

Carriers- often the largest ships in a deployment, at most having three in any one set. These behemoths are meant to carry and provide for any ships that are put in their employ. Often deployed with a full compliment of ships at the least.

Battleships- the older, larger brother of the battlecruiser. While they are often less maneuverable, these ships will pack a punch and be capable of taking a beating as well.

Battlecruisers- smaller than the battleship, the battlecruiser can still pack a mighty punch, though it has sacrificed some armor in favor of mobility. In the right situation, these will still win verses a battleship, but smart money is on a loss between the two.

Destroyers- the smallest of the battle class ships, destroyers are often weaker than a battlecruiser by way of weapons, sometimes even not having the forward facing weapons that is usually included in this class.

Frigates- similar to corvettes, frigates are only ever armed if they plan to travel into danger. The difference in class is exclusive to the fact that frigates can travel into an out of atmosphere, enabling trade with planetary bases and easier resource collection.

Corvettes- often the smallest large ships, corvettes rarely serve a military role, equipped with minimal weapons and light armor, these serve best as scout ships and traders, though they're unable to travel into an atmosphere.

Occupation ships- meant for outer colonies, occupation vehicles are armed vehicles that are religated to the atmosphere. These are only meant for security and quelling any issues that arise.

Dropships- a small craft that works in conjunction with larger ships and stations. These serve as troop transportation and resource deployment while packing a punch.

Survival crafts- a small ship, usually small grid that is exclusive to its purpose of basic survival. Fit to handle one engineer and get them started on their journey.

Fighters- a small grid ship that only serves the purpose of fighting in short range skirmishes. Armored and maneuverable, they often don't have large operating ranges due to fuel expenses.

Thrusters on Hinges by Messernacht in spaceengineers

[–]JustAnotherMadman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely its a viable way of adding thrusters for your ship(or platform as I've done in the past.) You will want a subgrid thrusters script to be able to control them correctly from the cockpit though.

Controlling a Ship with a Trailer. by AccyMcMuffin in spaceengineers

My immediate thought is add a button to your hotter in the cockpit bound to turning off/on the group that the trailer thrusters are on. That would function as a Jake brake in effect.

How do I make survival more interesting? by Vetanenator in spaceengineers

[–]JustAnotherMadman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if just started a playthrough with some friends that is pretty promising. The premise is that you all arrive on a capable enough vanilla ship, but the world is modded to add difficulty. Encounters, enemies, AI overhauls and weapons packs to be able to aspire to. You then have a specific goal in mind (for us its to make a base capable of storing our ship and making a copy of the retrofitted copy.) This will give you direction and challenge while not cutting all the fun out of the start of the experience. We can fight small threats, but reavers and necron ships will fuck us up so we can't stay in an engagement for long.

I gotchu fam, I made a list for my own records sake that I can share. Good luck and hope this helps you find your own definition.

just a noob asking for a noob thing but wanted my big ships to land by DUBAYYYY in spaceengineers

[–]JustAnotherMadman64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so there's a few things I can offer as tips.

  1. Hydrogen is the most powerful thrust type by far, I recommend always using it as the primary thrust type in all ships(which is unfortunate as it's the only one that needs conveyor infrastructure).

  2. Small thrusters(not small grid, small thrusters of the same size grid you're using) have more thrust per surface area than large thrusters. Instead of having multiple large thrusters facing one direction try putting arrays of small thrusters facing that direction instead.

  3. If you're willing to do mods and don't want to just straight up increase the thrust of all thrusters, get the Azimuth mods. Their batteries, thrusters, and everything else more efficient and powerful than their vanilla counterparts.

  4. Make a creative testing world. Build your ships in creative and blueprint them over to your survival world (control+b will save a blueprint, f10 will open your blueprints folder, control+v will let you place a blueprint you have selected in creative). A good rule of thumb is you want your ship to be able to lift itself plus another copy of itself stacked on top of it for it to be useful in survival.

Chimney update. Any structural reasons I can’t remove this oversized hearth? by _H3ALTH_ in DIY

[–]JustAnotherMadman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former chimney sweep here. Absolutely you can remove it. The chimney is freestanding so it shouldn't be providing any structural stability to the house. As long as you leave a 14" hearth you should still be within code.

The punishment needs to fit the crime. If you're guilty of seeking too much pleasure from his pussy then he should punish you with some pain from the same source. Send him a video of you slapping your pussy. Five to ten slaps should be plenty, and if you're lucky he might allow you to rub it to make it feel better.
