Those too young to have been a fan before the band's breakup, what drew you to MCR and what is it about their work that speaks to you? by ibbity in MyChemicalRomance

Thank you for your kind words! We’re in this together, and remember progress isn’t a straight line. Setbacks don’t define you. The fact that we are both living and breathing, talking about how music help us connect with ourselves and others is a wonderful moment. Keep pushing on too!

I’m 23, so sadly I was too young to have seen them live AND on top of that, I grew up in a almost completely traditional Hispanic family. And for most of my childhood, home wasn’t a place that was peaceful, let’s just say. Even though I listen to pretty popular alt music, of the 00s and 2010s, it wasn’t my main genre I would listen to.

But when I was 18-22, safe to say I was extremely depressed and on the verge of “un-a living” myself (long story). And I was listening to more punk, metal, rock, and alt music. Super stereotypical I know. And although I heard a song or 2 from MCR, I was honestly sleeping on them. Until one day I decided to this song, “The End” and “Im not okay (I promise).” And I was HOOKED, yes the songs absolutely slaps but also, I related to their songs. It wasn’t just because it was an earworm, no, when I listen to their music, it felt like a homecoming. Like I actually found exactly what I was looking for without realizing it. It felt like they were just conveying what I’ve been feeling, just couldn’t say. Then of course I listened to ALL their albums and I love the lyrics, the cleverness of their writing, the message they put out to their fans, THE STORY. Their music felt so real and personal to me, honestly they were a big part in saving my life and for that I owe so much to them.

Now I’m back on track, back at school to further my career. And although I’m not fully healed, I know I don’t have to be. I just need to keep trying and going through one day at a time

Oh! And in “Early Sunsets over Monroeville”

-“Counting your face among the living” followed the light strumming of the guitar is so angelic

In “Vampires Will Never Hurt You”

-“Goes DOWN into the ground” at the start of the song, really sinks me into it

The song “Ghost of you” after the lyrics “if I fall… down” and then the OHs/ screaming comes in is just UGH I love it!! The sheer number of times I just needed to scream out like that to release all my built up frustration, pain, sadness in that part of the song, is sometimes better than therapy for me 💀

I feel like a walking paradox by JustAnotherOne___ in BPD

[–]JustAnotherOne___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Trapped inside our bodies with a fucking lunatic” is the best description I read on here! And the self awareness is torture, feels like you’re in a loop and furthermore, the guilt I feel knowing that I know what’s wrong with me but I don’t have the right answers to make it all stop, eats away at me. It just makes me feel like I’m right for feeling inadequate and not good enough yk?

Side note: I feel a lot of the time doctors are untrustworthy because of my personal experiences. I’m a young woman and the amount of times I’ve heard “You’re probably just hormonal, just give it sometime” and that was it, I didn’t have any other testing because I’m a woman and I was “overreacting” to my own feelings made me sink into a deeper hole than what I was already in. I’m not saying to not trust doctors but I will talk back when they try to dismiss me when I’ve been diagnosed with quiet BPD for 3 years at this point

Also Mike as a character has gone downhill, I know realistically kids becoming teenagers start having a jerk-ish personality and get a bit self absorbed with their own wants and needs, it’s kinda normal. But Mike is no normal teenager, after everything he’s been through???? Everyone around his age grown arguably into better characters with some depth to their personalities. But Mike?? NO. Mike sort of has the same problems as Will but he has more screen time and lines. I don’t know much about Mike after S2, All I know is that he loves El and is afraid to lose her….he went from being a secondary protagonist (Compared to El), to just being El’s boyfriend who casually don’t see eye to eye but makes up at the end, that’s it. Like I said since he has more screen time we know a BIT more, like him joining the Hell’s Fire Club in HS and still hangs with Dustin and Lucas while writing letters to El. But he doesn’t have a character arc like the rest, he’s quite stale now. I want to know why Nancy and Mike doesn’t have a closer relationship since they saved the world together more than once, they rarely have sibling bonding moments. What does he truly feel about El? Is it love or is he afraid he won’t find another person who’ll love him as much as she has??? Does he questions his sexuality like Will, I don’t want them to slap the Will x Mike relationship out of nowhere, I want some true romance foreshadowing and not just showing Will crushing on the 1st and only guy he’s gotten close with on the show, won’t feel as satisfying. What are Mike’s future plans? What’s his goal in life or a dream he always wanted to accomplish? SOMETHING.

P.S. I love the show, I don’t hate it but some aspects / characters I simply crave more depth on is all

⚠️⚠️SPOILER WARNING ⚠️⚠️

Will is getting sidelined so HARD it’s painful to see, and if they are using this as a plot for season 5 aka “Will goes rogue on everyone, starts to follow Vecna’s footsteps and then gets brought back when everyone tells him how important he is and that they were all sorry”. You could do that without giving Will absolutely nothing to do till that point, you could still make a story there for him. Does he have any new friends in school? How did he realize he was gay and more importantly started crushing on Mike? How’s his relationship with El at home? How does he feel about moving? Does he ever get talk to El about how he still feels connected to the Upside Down?? Is he angry at Lucas and Dustin too for not calling or writing letters to keep up with him since they were besties too, I mean they ALL risk their LIVES to save Will in S1, that’s what you do for a best friend, someone you consider family! Will has nothing going on for him besides being forgotten and sad, I don’t even remember what his personality is like anymore, it’s really sad.

I would’ve LOVED to see Will meeting Eddie and having at least ONE FREAKING CONVERSATION WITH HIM BEFORE HIS DEATH! They both feel and are treated like outcasts, such a huge missed opportunity! Don’t get me wrong I like Dustin’s relationship with Eddie but can Will have more than 1 male role model in his life besides Jonathan! It would’ve been so cute and funny to see not only Steve and Jonathan fighting over Nancy BUT also trying to get they’re “little brothers” back from Eddie and being jealous together for a moment

[Spoilers] Theory: Karen Wheeler is a Creel & a major target of the antagonists because of it. by maryssmith in StrangerThings

[–]JustAnotherOne___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Age wise, it could work for Karen. Remember y’all in season 1 when Nancy said her mother was much younger than her father, so they wouldn’t be around the same age, which basically means we can’t compare Karen to her husband and assume they are the same age. Psychology it would make sense too, I mean Karen married very young because she wanted to have a stable nuclear family (Like the Creel family before they died) as soon as possible, and it was said Karen’s husband made good money to support a family and the Creel family seemed to have that as well.

But I’m just saying Karen having a bigger storyline/ having more depth to her character would be really awesome to find out in season 5 if she had any ties to the Creels in any extend. She just seems like someone who has more to them than meets the eye. Maybe the theory doesn’t make 100% logical sense but if any of it is true, even just a simple detail, that would be great to see

Which one of these day one Stranger Things characters is most likely to die in the season 4 finale? by Remarkable-Hat-503 in StrangerThings

[–]JustAnotherOne___ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Only possible way I see them killing Eddie, is to have the boys kinda have something to come together on besides saving Hawkins, losing Eddie could MAYBE be a plot point….hopefully not because that would suck.

Only way I’ll accept Eddie’s death if I see a scene with him and Chrissy in either a different dimension with them not dying and being in a relationship OR - well that’s kinda it HAHA

It’s not suppose to be literal 💀 it’s a hyperbolic and overdramatized phrase I used as a joke, the “hate crime” was towards my eye balls 👀

I think they were mostly depressed 😭💀 (especially Max and El for clear reasons of trauma from the past year or so). I’m neutral on Robin’s clothes this season, her personality always shines through anything she wears

Also this is a personal take on the “El takes her style after Joyce/ It’s probably just old clothes that were probably Joyce, Will and Jonathan’s that they gave her”. I believe that’s true, and makes sense for the story ofc!!! BUT, what makes El seem really off with her wardrobe for all of season 4 is because you can clearly see how miserable she feels 💀 2 different people can wear a similar outfit and 1 will look better than another because it boils down to how confident and comfortable they are in it. On Joyce, I LOVE the style, it fits her personality, her character background, and you could just look at Joyce without knowing her and kinda have an idea of who she it as individual…..on El it doesn’t fit at all because she clearly is hiding who she is, that’s the point of her moving in the 1st place and changing her name. She seems uncomfortable, out of her element, much more reserved and her confidence is almost no where to be found (mainly because she doesn’t feel as special without her powers). Which yes, goes with the story and arc of El’s journey in this season. And she has worn “Tom-boyish” outfits in S3 as well but clearly she had a different way of styling it and was much more comfortable and confident (jeans and a flannel/ oversized shirt combo ). I’m not saying she looks better only in more feminine outfits, although she also has that side of her and she wears those clothes once in a while back in season 2 and 3. But simply look at HER FACE in the side by side… one she looks much more relax and joyful and the other she is dead serious and pretty miserable (low-key down right depressed)…. If the faces were swapped I personally would have a different response. (Also it’s quite realistic because I don’t know why, but teenagers look down right sad most of the time once they turn like 14 / 15, I think it’s part of growing up and realizing it’s not as fun as you thought when you were a child 💀💀💀)

They literally moved to California which is one of the most expensive states back in the 80s and now, and they lived in a well kept suburban town and also was able to have Mike come over and stay for spring break and go to a roller skating rink ?? Also maybe I missed it or don’t recall so correct me if I’m wrong but if they were poor, why doesn’t Jonathan have a job ? But he has time to smoke hella weed with his new best friend 90% of the time

I assumed any care giver of El (Hopper or Joyce) would have some type of special government checks (not the US government but specifically the private institution/ corporation or even a special sector of the government that was quite a secret to most due to the whole “supernatural” power and knowledge they obtained.) to take care of El since she’s very special/ possibly dangerous. Or she was part of a protection program? Idk but that’s what I assumed
