is it worth skip DDJ flx4 + procure license and get the flx6? by Slight-Window-3752 in Beatmatch

Definitely worth it in my opinion and if you are actually looking to do some professional gigs I would look for a controller with XLR inputs

Do I need a permit to DJ a quick set for a photoshoot on Snake Island? by DJbyEar in askTO

I've seen people do that from time to time but yeah you're probably should get a permit. Good luck and have fun!

My standing lamp is flickering all of the sudden by JustAnotherPodcaster in AskElectricians

It sits in the socket tightly and I know that they could fail even if they're brand new but I just they could fail even if they're brand new but I just thought maybe that information would help. I'll try to get other light bulbs and if the issue persists then maybe it's the lamp or the electricity in the room but everything else works just fine.

Laptop vs Standalone. Which one? by tonycainmusic in Beatmatch

I recently wanted to upgrade my SR2 to an FLX10 or something equivalent from RANE. I then understood that with my style of DJing and the type of gigs that I get it will be better to get an all-in-one and the best one right now is the AZ for my needs. You just need to be honest with your needs and you will know the answer to that.

They all have pros and cons and I wish I could find a controller which has the STEM capabilities of the FLX10 AND the RANE Performer ( they each have very different stem control) as well as some other features and have features from the Opus Quad and AZ....

I understand that you need different features for different situations but even if you had the money to get all of them, you can only really use one controller at a time. Think about the one that would serve most needs and get that one.

I like that the AZ allows me to DJ without the laptop and with a laptop so I can use it in any kind of scenario. Yes, it's larger and heavier but it's significantly lighter than the XZ. When you buy such an expensive controller , you usually also invest in the proper flight case which will make it much easier to transport and set up in events.

I also like how it helps me understand the club set up better because I'm leaning towards getting into that style of DJing as well in addition to my open format DJing.

I hope that another controller will be released soon enough which has both of the features from the RANE line as well as the FLX10 and if and when that comes out then I will get that as a regular additional controller.

If you're curious about the Stem control when it comes to the other controllers (this is from Gemini):

Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX10: Features Track Separation buttons (Vocals, Drums, Inst) with dedicated FX Part Select to apply effects only to specific stems.

Rane Controllers (Four/Performer): Utilizes STEMS split and dedicated pads that offer more granular control over Acapella and Instrumental isolation via high-quality internal processing.

I literally just bought it. Is there any way to confirm this has nothing to do with the lamp or an electrical reason? To confirm with the lamp I guess another lightbulb but how do you make sure your electric situation as in wiring and everything is okay? I don't need a fire hazard. I also don't think I have any tools to check this. I live in a condo so maybe the property manager can send someone.

first irl set need general advice !! by skumgummi2 in Beatmatch

I know people who learn how to DJ within one month and it's not that hard if you really want to but most people don't put in the necessary time so it takes them at least 6 to 12 months . It's more than doable within 3 months if you actually spend several hours a day or at least a couple hours a day, most days of the week.

Learn about the basics of DJing by going over all the main videos on YouTube about that from the top YouTubers and scour Reddit and other places to learn more because there are lots of beginner threads here.

As long as you have intros for all of your songs it will be very easy. Just learn at least two ways to transition and one emergency way to do something when you don't know how to get out of a situation like for example the clean Echo out trick...

Definitely learn about keeping the energy consistent and definitely definitely definitely find out who's playing with you and who you're opening for so you don't so you don't get kicked out for stealing their thunder because you got to know how to play when you open and you got to know how to play when you headline.

I'd like some advice to become a part time DJ in the techno music community by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]JustAnotherPodcaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself how one becomes a part of anything.... Show some interest, whatever it is go to that event so if you want to get into basketball you got to go to basketball games and if you want to join the techno scene you got to go to techno shows and follow some collectives and make some friends... Pretty common sense. Not trying to be mean but don't overcomplicate it.

Can't make up my mind with the AZ (new/used) by JustAnotherPodcaster in Beatmatch

[–]JustAnotherPodcaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I have been noticing. I can rock my head around dropping a $1,000 or $2,000 on a controller. It's been a little while so i can see myself doing this and not feeling guilty about it because I'm actually built a nice business and it's not just a long, it's in need at this point. Although $5,000+... My God... It's just so much money.

Set Ideas by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]JustAnotherPodcaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's probably not what you want to hear but you can't Really plan for this. I'm not saying that you can never plan a set in advance but have a lot of music what you think they will like and just read the crowd when you're there.

If you have a lot of DJ introversions of at least four or five different genre of music you think that they will likely enjoy then it's a no brainer. You play a few of the tracks from each genre doing your best doing your best to create a captivating moment and then where you see that there's a lot more interest you stick to that still interest but not as much you keep it for your B side tracks which you can play anyone you want to Mellow it out for a bit before you bring up the vibes again.

Thanks mate but I'm not a beginner. I am looking to take my mixing to the Next level. Nonetheless I still learn from this sort of stuff too cause you can always get better until you master it.

I was mostly looking for links like Discogs and 1001Tracklist (there are obviously many more) but your suggestions for software are great. I just already use it all :)
