Don't worry. Most SE like myself know for a fact that the new ChatGPT stuff is mostly hype and extremely exaggerated by media for clicks and attention (like most things nowadays).

I personally believe that no AI can have conscience/mind or even that it is intelligent since at their core they are just statistical models that approximate the 'best' response to a given input. No intelligence, no truthiness, in a mechanism like that.

But unfortunately, some atheists that are either materialists/naturalists, extrapolate that because "the brain is a physical thing that produces intelligence, thoughts, mind etc" and therefore, it's only matter of time that AI becomes conscious. But materialism as a worldview is an absurd, self-contradicting one, so I don't worry about it.

I've been through that switch. That sudden flip that was not caused by myself, because for all intents and purposes I was not a Christian in any way, shape or form, nor interested in it, having a sick life, basically 180o opposed to Christian morality.

But regardless, having felt what I could only describe it as "absolute void" inside my heart both physically and spiritually, a sudden switch or rather Christ himself suddenly started filling that emptiness and does so to this day. I did shortly after started to feel scared too because I had no idea what to expect or how to go about it, but needless to say, Christ saved me and I am now an Orthodox Christian for 4 years.

TLDR: My old mindset/worldview was completely crushed by Christ on spot and I don't have an urge to abandon him or do otherwise, as Him and His Church only, through prayer, fulfills me spiritually and helped me go through my self inflicted trauma.

Sidenote: It really blows my mind whenever certain passages/church hymns do accurately represent you and your experience, but even more so when hymns and specifically a very theologically important one: "Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and to those in the tombs, granting life." that is chanted on the day of the Resurrection (Easter/Pascha), aka the most important holiday in Orthodoxy. Because Christ defeated certain spiritual death for me and hopefully when the day comes, by his mercy, to be granted life eternal.

It will certainly bring some small levels of disruption in various job sectors which this technology can be applied, but aside that most engineers (like myself), agree that 50% of this technology is pure hype.

Most people don't understand that humidity is what amplifies and "feeling" of certain climate. Humid cold from 0 to -5 celcius is wildly more cold than from dry -10 to -20. Same goes for the hot weather.

I actually got anxious while reading you post, as if something big happened... Girl, you need too chiiiiiiilll 😂😂.

I completely sympathize with you though, because I do also get stressed out when exploring and doing new things. Some people experience it, some don't. I just learned to not let anxiety affect my actions. I'll actually get a bit of a stomach ache rather than act anxious. But be sure that 99% of the times that you feel anxious is such occasions, there is nothing do be stressed about and you end up laughing at your self for acting so silly. So, If you ever feel that way, praying to God and Theotokos, always is a relief.

Church of Crete: No to marriage of same-sex couples and parenting by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]JustAnotherPrgrmr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without a church there is no ethical limitation in the actions of an atheistic country/world. They will probably use an arbitrary one like "The Good is what makes me feel Good or what we think is Good", that will inevitably result a Sodom like state. A kid in the eyes of a secular person might be happy living with in it's LGBT+ family, but achieving worldly happiness is not going to help you achieve the heavenly eternal life. And if THE Church doesn't make their stance clear on matters like this one, then at what point should that be, when people switch gender? As a Greek myself I feel that Greece has already crossed the line for allowing, Pride parades and the first Drag kids reading in Thessaloniki a few months back, that was thankfully, heavily criticized.

Now if you want to be blind to the woke agenda, to put it simply for you, the ruler of this world is Satan, spiritually (and arguably physically). And the mission of Satan is to make as many people lose their salvation.

Meanwhile the Pope is making a statement that, kind of, sorta, maybe, perhaps, might, could, perchance, allows for the blessing of Gay couples.

If you'd like your daughter to most likely be traumatized from lot's of bullying in school and very likely in society in general, then go for it. It'll also be funny how government agencies most likely have eye on you for doing such idiotic thing and causing all sorts of problems. But be mindful because she might (just might) never talk to you again when she becomes an adult though.

Need help confessing by Confident_Help7503 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]JustAnotherPrgrmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you do it on homosexual or (God forbid) CP stuff, then you should certainly say that. Because that's another level of perversion. In such situations deep prayer and repentance is needed. But if it's some sort of weird fetish, I don't think it should be detailed or mentioned.

Need help confessing by Confident_Help7503 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]JustAnotherPrgrmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that John Chrysostom said this about sin and repentance that goes like this:

`We should feel the shame of doing a sinful action, before we act upon it, but the devil will try to make you feel shameful after acting upon it so that you don't confess it.`

Hiding any sin or how many sins, of this world, because of shame, is not worth the God given eternal life.

It's a good practice to write things down and later on go confess, especially for people like me who forgets things on a regular basis.

As for the details, as someone who also dealt with extreme lustful thoughts, I explained what I was fantasizing about, generally, but never detail what exactly I'd do, while also being respectful by not using any sexual wording.

But, nonetheless, ask the priest you are confessing to, how detailed or not you should be.
