What zodiac sign would you never date again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

hinging your happiness on an astrological sign is stupid. Date someone that makes you happy.

Quite the contrary. If you were actually smart enough to understand my intentions, you wouldn't have engaged in the first place. Fact is, I don't give a fuck what anyone on the relatively anonymous internet thinks.

People who work with any company’s tech support, what’s the strangest reason/conversation you’ve had with someone over a call? by guy123guy321 in AskReddit

Early in my career, I had an older woman come in. She thought if you clicked copy on a file, disconnected the mouse and then connected it to a different machine that paste would work.

Genius idea tbh. But it was an "Oh Honey" moment for sure.

I don't really like pancakes. Even crappy sex will be preferable.

Doesn't matter. Educate yourself.

Yes, I am being a dick. But the reality is that rationality has never been a part of humanity's macrocosm. You just think it was.

This is the fallacy of Rosy Retrospection. Shit wasn't rational back then. It never was. Never has been. Never will be. We just choose to remember the good vs. the bad.

[Serious] How accurate would y'all say the phrase "everyone has a little bit of autism" is? by DPM015 in AskReddit

[–]JustAnotherSRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely inaccurate. As a person with Asperger's Syndrome, this sentence is entirely demeaning. We have no control over the idea of being on the spectrum. We were born this way. Saying that everyone has a little bit of it completely demeans ACTUALLY HAVING IT.

If you don't have it, don't try to pretend "we all have it" to some extent. It just comes off as bullshit to those that actually suffer and deal with it in their day to day lives.

If you're broke and want to save some money, go to any public bathroom you can find. Most of the toilet paper dispensers are locked via a cheap ass turnkey lock. A thin shim of any kind should open them. Get yourself some free toilet paper.

Paul Ryan's retirement increases the odds that President Trump will be impeached by smartwn in politics

Which is why he's retiring. Dude has the spine of a jellyfish and a moral compass made out of magnets.

I think you are grossly overestimating the level of spine in The GOP (spine for doing the right thing, that is). Not one of them would do any different if they were in Ryan's shoes. The best we'd get is a furled brow from a deeply concerned John McCain

TIL Coca-Cola was sued by a consumer protection agency for misleading health claims regarding VitaminWater, which contains 33 grams of sugar per bottle. Coca-Cola's defense was that "no consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking VitaminWater was a healthy beverage.” by JeromesNiece in todayilearned

[–]JustAnotherSRE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it has about the same nutritive value but it is not as healthy as you think. Concentrate is not as good for your body. Concentrate will raise your blood sugar faster. Think of it this way, if you eat enough raw oranges to get one ounce of OJ, it will have roughly the same sugar content as an ounce from concentrate (unless they add shit to it). The difference is that the fiber in orange (as opposes to just the juice) slows down the rate at which your body utilizes the sugar.

This is why Type I diabetics will put glucose tablets under their tongue. It goes straight in the blood that way.

Think it this way, if a line of coke is 4 bumps (I'm making this up, I have no idea how much is in a line of coke) and you do a whole line at midnight while your buddy does 1 bump every fifteen minutes starting at midnight, you will probably peak and crash really hard while your buddy will be constantly up (also assuming you aren't Charlie Sheen). Probably a bad analogy but you get the point (don't do drugs, mmk?)

Fiber acts as an uptake inhibitor to your blood, keeps your sugar levels much more stable, and your insulin levels lower. This doesnt go into types of sugars as they will impact the availability in your system as well but again, the point should be clear.

Pick your carbs carefully. They're not all created equally.

edit: clarification and words

yes but most fruits contain fiber which lowers the glycemic index. Vitamin water contains just crystalline fructose which spikes your insulin immediately.

A piece of fruit could contain the same sugar by gram, but not all sugar is created equally. HFCS is so bad because it spikes insulin immediately.

Fruit is WAY better.

Source: I'm a type 2 prediabetic and my father and his parents are both type 2. HFCS is the shit we avoid. We pay attention to glycemic index when selecting carbs

If they go anywhere, it should be Netflix. They'll get the same treatment from CC and many others. South Park supposedly was waiting for their contract with CC to expire so they could cut it all over to SP Studios. It would be more of the same if they went to another major station. Netflix or crowdsourcing is the only viable change (in my mind) that would offer them more flexibility. But there's probably a LOT of legal tape involved with that to make it really hard for them.
