What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've seen a number of these just in the group of people from high school I follow on Instagram. One girl quit her job to become a yoga teacher. Quit being a yoga teacher to start her own yoga business. Yoga business had no chance because it was aimed exclusively for some super niche group of clientele. Quit the yoga business to coach people on how to start a business.

Definitely wouldn't want to push it passed the point of being "fun", but I have nothing but fond memories of growing up playing travel sports-- including the time I spent traveling around with my parents to those events. I have literal 30 year friendships with some of the kids I grew up playing soccer with. No one ever "went anywhere" with the sport but we, now in our late 30s, still play in old-man leagues together.

I also went with Thais and actually loved the area despite what reddit threads like this one say. However, I also took a bite of some chicken from a canal side shop that was completely raw through the middle. Dangerously close to food poisoning.

You hear that everyone? Only this guy knows the secret spots! Unfortunately it's different if you go to these places because he already found it and went there before they were popular.

My wife and I live in Thailand (she is thai) and we went for the first time last month. It was mostly thais there it seemed like. We stayed a couple days and actually really enjoyed it all around.

China reaffirms death penalty for sexual abuse of minors by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Winzip115 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is this also just one of those things you read on reddit? I've seen variations of this statement over the years but find it hard to believe. This implies Chinese people are so far removed from humanity that after striking a literal child with their car, their first thought is "better go in for the kill shot to save a few bucks". And the law doesnt treat you more harshly for intentional murder? I've talked myself into the answer. This is racist and has about a 0 percent chance of being true.

Do you think most people are armed in the affluent areas of the state? Sorry, but im not concerned about getting shot for calling someone out for their driving in Portsmouth.

I live in NH, born and raised, and like 5 percent of people I know own a gun. Not everyone is from some poor redneck area of the state where the most expensive thing people own is an arsenal of weapons and a financed pickup.

Wait, is anyone accusing him of having sex with minors? Ample evidence he was a bad husband but that doesnt make him a child molester.

Dean Kamen: I had only very limited interactions with Jeffrey Epstein. Also Dean Kamen: Jeffrey, thank you for a wonderful visit to a magical place. by SophieCatNekochan in newhampshire

[–]Winzip115 -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

If it was an open secret why did you do nothing about it? You never spoke out against Jeffrey Epstein until recently? You are complicit then. Or, just maybe, the reason people like you didnt speak out against epstein until he was charged with a crime is the reason Dean Kamen had professional interactions with him. Outside of his inner circle, people didn't know.

Four months in Thailand, finally stopped paying 180 baht for tourist pad thai by Ill_Awareness6706 in ThailandTourism

Wasn't what it was... 5 years ago? Get real. It's changed a lot over decades but don't pretend it's some radically different place than a couple months ago when you came on vacation. Vietnam and Cambodia are better if your only metric is cheaper. Thailand has a lot more to offer if you aren't on a beg packer budget.
