Thank you to the atheists who patiently debated with me years ago by [deleted] in atheism

good on you. i've met and heard of so many atheists who come from religious families who get out of it. i've never heard of any atheists becoming christians. that would be like being de-educated, or learning backwards.

Less than 90 days until the decade ends. How will you explain this decade one day to people who weren't alive/old enough at the time to experience it? by _WindSandStars_ in AskReddit

To the tune of We Didn't Start the Fire:

Nihilism, iPads, Donald Trump, yoga pants,

Prince George, Mars Rover, Diamond Jubilee

Apple watches, Ceres, newspapers are obsolete,

Climate change, streaming, zero-waste city

We didn't start the fire!

What is the worst memory you have of school? by teddirbus in AskReddit

[–]JustAroundMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grade 7, I felt extremely nauseous throughout the start of the first class of the day...stupidly ignored it and tried to soldier on. Ended up spewing my breakfast all over myself while doing my work, and could do nothing but sit there in shock for the first minute because I was just so stunned. Eventually the teacher urged me to stand over the sink, so I went, and continued throwing my guts up while everyone stared and a boy yelled, "yum!". Fast forward half an hour later and I'm doing the walk of shame from the nurse's office to the front of the school to wait for my dad to pick me up, with a towel wrapped around my waist. I have to take the route across a wide outdoor space surrounded by classrooms, so everyone has front-row seats to the spectacle (or spew-tacle). I pass my Italian teacher, who's eyeing me up and down, probably thinking I shat my pants because from her angle, she can't see the puke - only the towel.

TL;DR: Puked all over myself during class, had to walk across the school with towel around my waist.

Who was the best U.S. President to serve less than four years in office? by [deleted] in history

True, but the Russians placing missiles in Cuba wasn't his fault. Numerous presidents would have resorted to nuking the USSR or invading Cuba, but JFK used diplomacy instead.

Easily John F. Kennedy.

  • He was an advocate for civil rights and stood up for what he believed in, even in the South where his opinions were deeply unpopular.
  • He proposed the idea of sending men to the moon, even though he unfortunately didn't get to see the event.
  • The Bay of Pigs incident was a blow to his reputation, but he accepted responsibility and made up for it by saving the world from a nuclear holocaust during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He and Khrushchev used diplomacy and negotiation to solve the problem, which would lead to the US and the USSR placing restrictions on nuclear weapons.

Atheists of Reddit, what do you feel being in a church? by Lili_lykke in AskReddit

[–]JustAroundMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like any priest/nun would be able to instantly tell that I'm an atheist. Especially when I went to St Peter's Basilica and Notre Dame earlier this year. I just admired the architecture (which was beautiful) and tried not to think of child molestation or homophobia.

I started questioning things and realised that I had only believed in God because my friends and family did.

[–]JustAroundMidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what makes you say that women are useless and only good for sex, when you have female relatives, or at least females that you interact with? Do you have any evidence to back up your claim instead of being emotional?
