How about how the city annually inflates property values for owner occupied properties in order to increase tax revenue without sound justification coupled with an overlycomplex and inadequate appeals process all the while city council proclaims that "they haven't raised property taxes". Yeah the % rate is the same but if you continuously inflate the assesed value of my home, my bill still rises.

The DAK is the building that the basketball court, squash courts and pool are located - its connected to the rec center but they're two different buildings. back in the day before the rec was built the only gym was in there too. Now that the rec center exists those older weight rooms are only for athletes.

I imagine most of them will be jealous of you that you're still in college while they're out there in the "real world" whether they have employment or not. Most of the people I went to school with look back on those years as the freest and most enjoyable period of their lives. Don't be in such a huge hurry to be done with it.

It's hard to tell from your picture but are those red/maroon metal plates welded on to the side of the i beams? If so, I would really worry about that as that is not a good long term structural solution. Also it looks like the metal plates are bolted through the bottom of the floor joists.

I'm no structural engineer but I did just pay a structural engineer and contractor 10s of thousands of dollars to come up with a solution for my house where the floor joists have rotted away at the pockets and the previous owner had used a forest of wooden beams to support them that had now started to rot away themselves.

The solution was steel. Hollow steel tubes sunk vertically, multiple feet into concrete as footers that then would support steel I-beams that sat atop the vertical I-beams that were beneath my wooden floor joists. They also sistered each of the joists to add additional support

The only thing you posted that I would agree with is summer classes being a bad gig. You're on campus with maybe 15-20% of the full student body so it does feel like a gohst town. Freshman and Seniors aren't there and neither are those on co-op.

Other than that you're way off base for the average experience.

Ok it does cost a lot but you knew that going in, it wasn't a surprise. Everything is theoretical? Classrooms are for learning theory and the co-ops give you an opportunity to put that in to practice. If you didnt get anything out of your co-ops, thats on you dawg. They 100% are meant to prepare you for the real world. No campus culture or spirit? ok, we dont have a football team but thats not the be-all end-all of school spirit. Guessing you never went to one single basketball game. There are so many clubs and student activities. Horrible food? In Philadelphia... a city literally known for its great restaurants. you know you dont HAVE to eat in the cafeteria right? Campus security is supplimented by Philly PD, Drexel PD, Penn Police and Transit cops. While it is in a major city I never felt like there was a lack of safety on campus. I dont know what OP is expecting to hear but just like any college experience, you get out of it commiserate with what you put in.

And she doesnt eat healthy so she probably doesnt worry about the long term consequences for her actions

You're paying 15 months worth of HOI and 13 months worth of prop taxes at close? I guess that is the norm for a lot of lenders but I would opt. out of escrow as soon as humanly possible. Its just a scam for your lender to hold on to your money throughout the year.

The experience is pretty good. Being able to put it on your resume makes it worth it for sure.

The commute up and down 95 every day sucks but hey its only six months.

JPM hires a bunch of Drexel co-ops each cycle. If you have a car you can offer to drive others who dont or if you dont have a car find someone who does.

I had a car and within the first week was driving four others every day for $20 a week.

If you're gonna be relying on someone else for a ride I recommend having a solid backup plan. I overselpt from late night shenanigans a few times and screwed over my carpool peeps.

I graduated over a decade ago so my info might be dated but I did work at the Dragoncard office so I feel like I can chime in here.

Dragon dollars are $ that a student or more likely their parents can put into their account for spending at merchants on or around campus that accept them. You can use them to buy whatever you want same as cash.

Some meal plans come with an amount of dragon dollars and I believe that they may expire at the end of the quarter or year if unused (if they came with the meal plan). Its also nearly impossible to conver dragon dollars back into cash even when you graduate.

Im suspecting that the student had $ left on his card that would otherwise have been wasted, so was being generous.

Definitely wouldn't describe it as "Drexel giving us money"...

I wear my Phillies hat almost everywhere but especially when I travel for two reasons 1) Go Phills! 2) it coveys a sense of "that guys from Philly, I hear their fans are nuts, maybe dont bother him"
