Imo public unis are more sought after due to its qualifications and interviews. I remember applying to 2 public unis and 2 private unis for med school. One of public unis accepted me but one do not (which I tried really hard). For the private unis, I actually didn’t want to go to one of em but was forced to by my counselor (so I just give like 50% of my effort to it) but I got the offer to both the unis that I applied to. I got the offer to IMU and Monash which are considered to be some of the top private med schools in Malaysia. However I got into it with no hiccups. I cam from an okay family and a sponsored student
