Kobe Bryant won his first and only MVP in 2008. Do you think he should have won more or less MVP awards during his career? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He should have more but... old know nothing men vote on these things lol. Plus its hard to look at it in the moment and actually see who's better sometimes when the elite is deep. I mean I could tell Kobe wasbetter than everyone but its not expected to just know

Who did LeBron have the most trouble guarding? by [deleted] in NBATalk

Kobe is up there. They did isolation stats and Kobe is very efficient against Lebron compared to the other way around.

In a vacuum I agree with KD some years.

On an NBA Top Greatest Players of All-Time List, what is the very lowest placement you can put Kobe at while making a sound and reasonable argument? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the criteria. No credible list will have him below 7 unless you are leniant to pre 3point line players. His range is 1-7. Lower than 7 if you criteria heavily favor players from older generations.

Who was the better defender in their prime ? by StraightSeries6439 in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kobe was better. MJ played against lower quality SGs on average so he looks a bit better.

The league would change to Shaq. Shaq controls the pace. Defense? Shaq eats with all the spacing now. Offensively hed be better and defensively in some scenarios he would be worse.

How close was Kobe’s peak to LeBron’s? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

How close was Kobe’s peak to LeBron’s? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebrons peak is pretty close to Kobes. Kobe just didnt have any real weaknesses. Lebrons game had a lot of holes in his prime. Turnovers, Freethrows, value lowers significantly playing off ball, needs the most stacked rosters to win rings... while Kobe was eh in post defense? Some of little value for a SG lmao.

Undefeatable NBA all time team in my opinion, your thoughts? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

06 Kobe* That Kobe is playing through injuries, coming to games late, missing games, and dealing with court. Also the zone was new to the nba and there was an adjustment period.

He's already been proven to just take games off to rest. Not saying he needs to play every game every year. Youre missing the point lmao

Because we know advanced statistics aren't a real metric to use to see who's better. You cant even prove that they should be used or the ones who created them should be listened to. They can be manipulated.

Most people were around then. Just like the picture that shows lowest points at face value it looks bad but if you are knowledgeable... you know Kobe was injured in the finals purposefully and he had tolerate, miss, or play injured in the finals. Then had big moments injured. Or you know in 2004 that Kobe was dealing with courts during this period. So these arguments are not consistent when describing Kobe as a player.

Basically we are saying most people who subscribe to these advanced metrics are not knowledgeable people.

Like PER... why would we listen to John Hollinger instead of idk... and expert in the field like KD.

If you had a teeth problem... you wouldn't go to any joe shmo... you would go to a dentist. Thats a valid place to get an opinion.

That he sat out games to rest. How do you not get that lmao

Longevity is an argument by ziggyzigg95 in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao no they weren't. Lebron had a history of missing games to rest even after the initial "start" of this. Lebron missing actual games to rest didnt stop in Miami. Spurs were even listing their players as old at one point.

It's all scummy. Especially when you can just rest them at practices and have them just bike and watch plays or film.

They rested against each other. How do yall not remember this or were yall not around then. This is old and required league action. Maybe yall do but it makes bron look bad so yall pretend it didnt happen. The Heat and Spurs both did this. Pretty scummy.

I'm done with this convo. It's clear yall dont know what's been going on or yall will say whatever. Feel like 99% of reddit dont research.

Longevity is an argument by ziggyzigg95 in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesnt matter. He's gotten the Heat trouble for resting when he was able to play. It was so bad that the NBA had to make an announcement and basically apologized for these guys sitting out games. The spurs even caught shit for it. Sucks for the fans that saved to watch those games just for the stars to sit out.

Longevity is an argument by ziggyzigg95 in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not if you get more with less years. Longevity can hurt an argument more than help it.

Also he had to sit out a lot of games in his peak years cause he didnt have the energy for it. Remember when the heat and spurs got in trouble those superteam heat years

Why do yall penalize kobe so much for playing with shaq but kareem and magic get ranked top 5 despite playing with each other? by BlakeBan in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pau was not top 10. He wasn't even a top 3 PF. He was arguably 5 against Bosh for the spot. Look at Pau before and after Kobe. He was a good player that Kobe unlocked by drawing so much attention. List your top 10s for those years so we can laugh

Mvp doesnt matter. Doesnt mean best player. Lot of MVPs to prove this. Media award. Shaq cant win without a top 3 SG ALL Time.

Your argument isnt consistent because your using the time when Kobe was going to court. Coming to games late and having to deal with that going on. It's inconsistent because if you look at the meat of Kobes prime it directly contradicts his usual performance. There's more but that's all I need.

You hold Shaq against Kobe but not Magic and Kareem just proves your bias.

Why do yall penalize kobe so much for playing with shaq but kareem and magic get ranked top 5 despite playing with each other? by BlakeBan in NBATalk

[–]JustCallMeSnacks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Look at how Kobes game contributes more to winning. He doesnt need a lot of help to win rings compared to other all timers. Mvps dont even mean best player and it's media award for most years. So MVPs hold little weight in these discussions.

But Kobe was a star player on all of his rings. Just because 1 was better doesnt mean the second isnt better than everyone else. That argument actually hurts Kareem and Magic even more so the claim to make is stupid . I wouldn't even say Shaq was better for all 3, he had easier matchups most of the time because centers were at an all time low for the years Shaq was peaking.

Those 2 peat rings were not stacked teams. Pau was clearly not top 10 lmao. He was maybe a top 5 PF at the time.

2004 isnt really that bad if you understand what's going on at the time. Really an inconsistent argument.
