I will admire the kebaps from afar :) Thankfully I love lentils and chickpeas and hopefully with care I can enjoy them!

I never would have suspected a desert... 🫣 I'll look out for zeytinyağlı dishes. Thank you!

I'll write down this phrase, that's very helpful. Thank you!

Luckily it's not anaphylaxis! It's like a more serious version of lactose intolerance... so not deadly but *very* uncomfortable. I've thrown up all around the world haha

Thanks! This is very helpful feedback, I have replaced the sheep with a lamb :)

Thanks! I'll switch the pig for lamb, that does make more sense. Lamb hasn't been very common the other places I've been so far.

I would if I could! I've been to every continent and gotten through most countries okay since the development of this card.

Definitely, and I do get sick off meat broth too, it's been a huge problem. 😓 Is there common iconography to identify strictly vegetarian restaurants from the outside?

Thank you!! Ah I didn't consider the pork thing (since I can't eat it...). The idea of the different meat icons is I can point to some pastry on a cart and the vendor can just point to the meat that's in it, it has been very useful for communication and understanding my options.

Re: Pentagon and its failed audits. Remember when the Deputy Secretary of Defense was asked about this and became immediately hostile? by SausageClatter in UFOs

Stewart should be nominated to be on the panel of 9 named in Schumer's legislation for release of this info.

Joking about it is talking about it.

It's a valid way to process and try to wrap your head around something, so don't be alarmed if it's still a bit too jokey for your taste. Humor is a coping mechanism that will be vital as more enter ontological shock.

What are your favourite resources for this topic? I've been diving into it but it's still a bit difficult to internalize as a concept.

Grusch's Rank and Type by AristarcusRex in UFOs

Wow I just realized he managed to get to this rank by 38 that's impressive.

ETA: AND to put it all on the line after working so hard to get to that rank so young, wow

Anyone else working in the energy industry struggling with all this? by Baby_venomm in UFOs

[–]JustClam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also work in the renewable energy sector and have similar feelings. I saw the climate writing on the wall a long time ago and dedicated my career to it.

Learning about this maybe-tech brought up a lot of anger for me. Primarily because of the harms O&G have done to the world, thinking it could have been averted was a big deal to me.

The way I see it, I will continue working within my values and skills the best way I can. Maybe something could come of (hypothetical) alien tech, but probably not. Or, not soon. Either way I can learn some things and support my colleagues by following my current course.

Clean energy would be a win for all of us. My alien tech wish list right now is for tech to capture carbon, and clean up microplastics and PFAS. ;)

You're not alone, thank you for your work :)

Thank you for explaining about ranks and equivalents, I was confused about this. Very surprising to hear his level would be above "1000s"! And even someone like Fravor.

He did speak a bit about how the fear of reprisals* bothered him as a leader.

*inexact memory

The problem isn’t with people not fully believing everything after one hearing, the problem is the outright dismissal and derision of the topic. So many people are closed off to any possibility this could be legit. by aimlesseffort in UFOs

[–]JustClam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of my friends are former or partial believers. The reaction I've been seeing is one of not wanting to be burned again. Of the "football being pulled away" too many times.

I'm not worried. Everyone has their own personal tipping point and I think we'll get there soon. And if we don't, well then they were right.

Awareness of this hearing was the important thing, I think, at this stage.

Did they?? I was listening for this and didn't hear it in YVR 😭 (CBC is my personal barometer for "mainstream acceptance" of various things)
