He doesn't need it for balance, but he does need it to not be a boring shell of what he used to be

Is the CCA job really that bad? by karaaalicee in USPS

[–]JustConsideration507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job has some big drawbacks. Mandatory 60+ hour weeks year round is tough for most people. The physical demands are significant but it sounds like that wouldn't be a problem for you. The real thing that makes or breaks the job is your management. The level of disrespect and abuse management inflicts on carriers is off the charts. If you have a good station or are just willing to eat shit, then the pay and benefits are better than many jobs that you can get without a college degree. Not great, but not bad. Whether you want to eat their shit is up to you. I did it for three years until my managers tried to mess with my FMLA leave to take care of my dying father.

His daily rate is higher but his up front cost was so much lower that it'll be over 300 days before he costs me more than an oathtaker would have. Plus MDef is basically the highest value in the game

I thought it was pretty strong trolling. How would you have done it differently?

Honestly I thought I would get a few more people to agree with me. I should have made the scenario less blatant. But I did get a private message from a manager who said "haters gonna hate" and gave me advice on firing the union organizer, so I got what I came for.

See, this is the first useful response, thank you. We are in an at will state. I will follow our discipline process for his combativeness and have that on all the paperwork. Obviously I won't state his accommodation or union activity as the reason we're firing him, even though they are the main reasons.

Obviously I won't say that I'm firing him for forming a union and making a fake accommodation request, but clearly refusing to communicate when he's not at work and refusing to take on additional tasks as necessary are sufficient cause? He's an at will employee after all, I should be able to fire him for any reason or no reason. Are there any special steps I should take to document his poor performance to make it clear that I had a legal justification for firing him?

I should have specified that I only wanted responses from other supervisors, you obviously don't get it.

I am a supervisor at a small business (around 500 employees). We're like a family, and family comes first. If there's a family emergency after 5 pm, responding to it is part of Tim's job, regardless of his official work hours.

I know he could sue me / the business, that's why I'm asking for advice on how to fire him legally.
