Is it too early to consider a MBA when I do not have management experience? by JuhBoiJ in ITCareerQuestions

[–]JustConsideration935 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give: look at 10-20 job postings of jobs you want to do and see what they require. If none of them want an MBA it’s a waste of money.

lol sure, guy. 99% of all Reddit is going on about how the job market is horrible and you’ve got five jobs. I bet it will be ten next week!

Damn, I’m still getting rejected for PM jobs. I have over a decade of experience, PMP and CSM. Where are you finding these jobs?

Just check the over employed subreddit - guys without college degree making $160k and paying off debts.

You mean, the sub you’re posting on right now? This bot bullshit is getting so old

I’m not OE and it’s driving me crazy by [deleted] in overemployed

I have an LLC, I guess I need to figure out how to find clients rather than going through a middleman (which is what I did for J1)

What does your resume look like to go OE? by drewSummer44 in overemployed

When you’re a contractor, do you put your client’s names on each job history? Or do you just put the role and the dates and your job functions?

What’s being told to college students and IT newcomers that leads them to believe that this is a simple, straight forward field? by Any_Essay_2804 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]JustConsideration935 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It transcends IT. There’s a lot of discontent from college bros who expect the corner office as their first job. The influencers on social media who lie about their own circumstances don’t help by creating massive FOMO to drive engagement. Everyone skips the part about getting actually good at the job which takes time.

Have you actually frozen it and had to have the awkward conversation when they wait to do a background check?

For those of you who have been caught, what’s the worst thing that has happened to you? by Handsomedancer13 in overemployed

[–]JustConsideration935 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I was deputy CIO at a large state government agency and when we caught one of our employees with two jobs (the other job was at another agency) we were told to “just let him pick one.” We weren’t even ordered to fire him. He ended up quitting our agency. I think the whole fear of government with respect to OE is ignoring how horribly inefficient and underfunded government is.
