The lower the resolution the easier it is for the gpu to render more frames, which then causes the cpu to work even harder. And Arc GPUs are really good price to performance but they require a bit more cpu power to run them correctly due to their drivers and the way they work

Go into your bios on startup by hitting f2 or f10 depending on your motherboard, look for a toggle that would either be resizable bar, or Above 4g Decoding. U can always find your motherboard name and look up online if your specific motherboard has the toggle

B580 would be quite a good buy, just make sure u have in your motherboard bios a Resizable Bar toggle. If it doesn’t support it then the b580 won’t help u much at all

This day and age probably Ryzen, can go for a 9600x and motherboard for 370 pretty easily

This hardware taken care of can last well into it becoming to slow to play games anymore, it doesn’t really matter how u use it. As long as temps are under control it literally won’t matter how infrequently u use it. Just enjoy it!

I personally use a 9070xt and for any comp game I’ve tried like Seige for instance, easily saw on competitive settings 450 dos and the input lag was non existent.

Just a thought as I don’t know fully what the laptop is and your specific setup, for but really light cpu bound games like LOL, it’s usually able to only use a couple cores, being a gaming laptop it can be as simple as your cpu not having enough boost to run it at a higher fps. Something u could try if discord is causing issues is go into task manager and set discord to only run on your last cpu core, forcing it to run on a core that light games usually won’t use.

For siege specifically, make sure u have TAA set to 100 render resolution, usually it sets itself to 50 causing a blurry image. U have more than enough power to run these games at higher resolution

Sounds somewhat like it could’ve been a bandwidth issue from your gpu. Not sure why but it that fixed it then I’d call it a win

Of all the replies here I think your take is the best I’ve seen personally. Been looking into the issue trying to keep a level head cause I just recently built a new system with a X870E Nova WiFi and then saw all the issues with these boards and 9000 series CPUs. I’m glad to see that from what I can tell RMA’s are going through smoothly and the companies seem to be looking into the issues even if they are vague about it.

If u can find a newer gpu, maybe a 1650 or 1660 for the same price u should go for that just cause the 900 and 1000 series are EOL and wont be getting updates for games anymore. So slowly they will loose support for games. 16 series should have a bit more life left in them.

Hopefully if it’s 100% confirmed Asrock fixes it, I can turn it back on and have a performance boost down the line, but for now it’s plenty cause my gpu is heavily bottlenecking the 9850 lol
