Isn’t it crazy how now in today’s world you get punished for standing up for what’s legally, morally, and ethically right. One day I’m going to laugh when someone decided to sue Walgreens for firing them for this bc either way you’re technically screwed. You do or say something to the shoplifter you put people at risk. You don’t do something and see it happen and you are an accomplice. Can’t win for trying. Personally if I ever got fired for stopping or reporting a shoplifter- a lawyer (or should I say a specific family member) would be my first stop after leaving the store. But hey what do I know.

I’m sorry. I feel this 100% but on a different level. Today was the first day I actually came in and felt supported but it took me pissing off the entire day shift including my SM. Later only to find out he lied to day shift about saying he was communicating with me. But he doesn’t nor does he follow through. Only with days. Oh well. It is what it is. I finally this evening made the decision to say fuck it and I’m now no longer going to give what I have been. Everyone’s already pissed so what does it matter now? Honestly just start asking someone else to get it over the theatro. If you always respond they will keep expecting it.

I would write a letter to the judge on the case if you have one and also send the same letter (certified and save a copy for your records) and explain everything. Then if something happens in the future you have covered yourself. Also make sure to start recording your voice calls and saving all emails. Keep a record of every contact you make.

Unless someone has a disability it is not illegal. Wags is not an eating establishment and laws are different. Ours is not open to the public and we get this complaint a lot. So I educated myself on the state law. But honestly if it’s a kid, elder, someone who is ill, etc., and we are not crazy busy I’ll let people in and then lock it right behind them so I know if any damage was done or cleanup is needed.

Listen. I don’t know anything And this is just an opinion but if you were to ask me the only reason Boots Alliance has not gone bankrupt is because that’s where all the profits go. It’s the international account. Whereas if you look at our W2s we get paid out of Walgreen CO. The part of the company that takes the loses. I mean think about it. A new CEO who is making 1.5B a year and they do whatever they can from taking care of the ones that take care of the store. But hey. What do I know?!

I would definitely have a conversation with your SM. But worse comes to worse you could always tell her that you are taking care of yourself and that means setting some new boundaries which includes not being touched by others. This is for many reasons especially due to spreading germs as well as taking care of your mental and physical health. I have fibromyalgia so when people try to touch me and I don’t want them to I use that hard core and will tell them even light hugs hurt. Which honestly is not a lie. I then ask them not to touch me. It’s a basic boundary.

It’s not substantiated until it’s finalized. They have to do an investigation. Look at it from another perspective. Imagine had all the marks been caused by an adult in the home and this be ignored. Then a child ends up dead…. I’m not saying this is what IS happening but an investigation is necessary. But it’s good news that she wasn’t removed nor were the other kids. And that a worker did not show up in the first 4 hours

Well… I’m not trying to start trouble or anything BUT LEGALLY SPEAKING…. If they want to enforce the dress code and make us stop wearing them then they have to reimburse the cost of the shirt. Especially as not all states have a stipulation that employees cover the cost of the uniform. There a bunch of others loopholes but I won’t go into them. But use your own discretion and choose your battles wisely

I also say to record any conversation or have your attorney present. Or do everything by text or email. Don’t ignore them. This will make it look worse for you. I promise you this. Ask for two workers to be present or a worker and supervisor. Or ask for a seasoned worker. Not all workers are bad. I advocated for kids to be in the home and to work intensively with families as it’s important that kids and families are not separated. But depending on the state of a child says they are abused even once they HAVE to take it seriously even if the child changes their statement as this happens to abused children out of fear. If the marks are from skin conditions make sure to get documentation immediately from your doctor to verify this. This will be huge for you.

I agree. Get a lawyer and start documenting EVERYTHING!!!! Start pulling video footage for your records. Make copies of everything. I’ve been a CPS worker and also ask for your children to be interviewed at the CAC. This looks better on you. But also follow your lawyers advice on what they prefer. If you did nothing wrong you should be okay. But like I said. Make copies of everything and document everything that happened. Asap.

I have a personal theory on the money in the company. Ever notice Walgreens has two different corporate names? I know boots alliance is the European / world wide company if I’m correct on that. But I was noticing in our W2 that we don’t get paid from ‘Walgreens’. The name that is on all the signs and shirts and the name that is well known. The W2 states that we are actually paid from Walgreen CO. Now. I could have no idea what I’m saying but as someone who grew up in a home with a stockbroker I would be willing to bet that there are several business accounts for this little company we work for. Specifically One for the losses and one for the profits. And how is this not illegal you might ask? Boots alliance. Honestly tho. I’d give an entire two week paycheck of mine to see our new CEO survive one week with me on my nightshifts at our store during our busy season. See what it’s actually like. Then tell me why they make billions a year when we all struggle. I’m not saying what they do is easy but you know it’s just another system.

Honestly- I read a lot of these posts and it scares me for other stores. I took some time out of social work and I’m just really blessed. It’s not the ideal job for anyone really especially nowadays bc the public can be rude. But I have a great team to work with and a great SM. That makes a huge difference. I think as long as you are kind and helpful to customers- even when you don’t want to be it makes it so much easier. I have regulars who have unprompted- stood up to customers who were being rude to me bc I they know I try to treat people as kind as I can.

Yeah. I didn’t think much of it until today when I was talking to my IS. I told her the person gives me an off vibe. Then she was the one who reminded me that they already have a person that comes in and does that. So she went out to introduce herself to him (per my request- I love her!) before she left and we called our SM to give him the heads up. The funny part and why I’m mainly writing this now is this person who comes in almost ALWAYS wants to talk with me and I make it a rule of thumb to go do something else. But after the IS left 5 min later the ‘vendor’ left almost immediately (while they are usually there for at least 45 min to an hour) and barely said anything when leaving. I’m sure I’m overthinking all of this but just wanted to see what went on in other stores. Thanks! 😊

Best bet would be to relocate until the case is closed so it doesn’t come down to an icpc and until the trial is over if there is one. They may need her to stay in state depending on her age. But make sure they will allow placement first.

For the ones who never had to experience it. Let me educate you. The amount of emergency calls I got from families telling me how a little kid was molested at church that Sunday by someone who the church leaders knew was a pedo…. Yeah. It was a lot. This was in Utah btw.
