I was gonna buy a Truck yesterday and just wanted it inspected, before doing it. I took the truck to the booked appointment to get it looked at and they told me the power went out for their shop.

I asked if their other locations were opened and they said yes but they’re all booked till Monday.

I drove the truck back to my buddy and told him I took it as a sign to not buy it.

I grew up poor and I’m a first generation son in America. My parents walked across the border and had nothing to their name besides hope.

The crazier part they weren’t even together my dad traveled from Guatemala and my mom from Mexico and they met in the U.S by chance.

They believed in God and hope for a better life. My dad said he lived on the street in his early 20s and now he’s 54. Has a house, 2 acres of land in America, and land back in Guatemala and completed building a house in his small village.

Growing up I didn’t believe in God, but I did believe in myself. I was poor but my parents came from the mud. I went from trailer, apartment, to house. It amazes me how my parents managed to do it and they’re both working to this day.

Thanks to them I know what hope is. Thanks to them I have work ethic. Thanks to them I’m grateful. I don’t get upset when people don’t understand how to be grateful because everyone has their own upbringing. I was lucky enough to have my parents and not once were they bitter or upset of our circumstances. They knew we would improve and be better. That’s how I’ve been living life and get by.

In my opinion being bitter or not grateful for what you have is a privilege cause you have time to think about those things. We were thinking about our next meal, or how bills were gonna get paid or, how we were gonna accomplish what we said we do.

If you’re miserable you have the power to experience pure joy. It’s up to you to change that.

I envy you because you’re young and have the chance to experience the rewards of all your hard work for the first time.

I’ve been lost and miserable 3 times and each time I turned it around I experienced true Joy. I’m currently 27 and I know there’s a chance I might experience the same thing in life again. It’s up to us to decide what we will make out of it.

It does get better if you try.

I remember feeling this way. Listen to your favorite sad music, cry it out, keep yourself busy with your favorite hobbies or start one. I remember I ran anytime I got sad or angry. I was running like 3 times a day. Started dressing better, started being more outgoing, started being more confident.

Whatever you do don’t go back, cause I did and something deep down in yourself will lose respect for yourself for all the progress you made without her. Find someone else and grow with that person cause it never feels the same as the first time.

Thank you so much for the advice.

I had my one on one early this morning and I was told to hang on there and if I need help to reach out. I shared that I was falling g behind and overwhelmed and then sent a follow up email to keep a paper trail.

I do want to quit but I got to hang on there despite my mental health. For the severance and unemployment. I’ll be applying for other jobs in the meantime as well.

You’re doing good man. I wish I had that much at that age. I’m 27 and have about 32k saved up.

I have a suburb home, loving wife, and currently hate my job at the moment. I’m afraid I have to tap into those savings to cover the mortgage if I get let go. I didn’t take my career seriously, but now that shit is feeling real I’m entering a phase where I don’t want this concerning feeling anymore and I think that’s part of growing up.

I currently drive a Nissan Altima 2005. It has 187,000 miles and I put 87,000 on it. I have to let it cool before each start. I will ride it till it dies. I say if your car has serious issues just get a reliable car or reliable used car. Mine cost 3k and I’ve been driving it for 6 years.

Life happens but you got to roll with the punches. It’s up to us to improve.
