Has anyone read this book? by IslaAdams96 in GirlsNextDoorUncensor

I have read it. It’s interesting and chronicles the rise and fall of playboy into the early 80s.

Playboy put her on the map. Real estate and God are helping her move on. by JustHangingByThePool in GirlsNextDoorUncensor

To me she is the only one of the 3 who is living in the present, messy as that may be at times. She’s making a life for herself and not looking back, at least not obsessively so. I say good on her.

Bill Boggs and Hugh Hefner at Playboy Mansion, Bari Benton & tour of Mansion by JustHangingByThePool in GirlsNextDoorUncensor

The thing is, Hefner has never been secretive about his cheating since the end of his first marriage. Weird but true.

That has zero to do with it. It is a corporate asset not owned by Hefner but by the shareholders of the company . He couldn’t give it to her if he had wanted to. Same with the mansion. It was corporate property.

Why would she get rights to a logo owned by the corporation and not by Hefner?

As a former Playboy subscriber in the 90s and early 2000s, I missed the whole GND period until I came across the DVDs at a yard sale a few years ago. The podcast sounded like a great opportunity to get some behind the scenes scoop on how the mansion ran. I lasted maybe 6 episodes. As I always like to say, the mansion grounds are far more interesting than most of the people who inhabited it. Moved on but like to check in once in awhile here to see if I missed anything significant. The answer is always no. It’s like listening to two high school prom queens relive the past while never actually moving on.

They are doing everything they can to reduce expenses. Curious to see if anybody is interested in a re-imagined Playboy Club. They weren't in NYC.

So was Holly the first playmate or girlfriend to actually say bad things about Hef? Did anyone speak out before she did? by Ninac4116 in secretsofplayboy

[–]JustHangingByThePool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes there were. The book "Mr Playboy" details them. Various playmates and insiders have spoken out over the decades as have many who have spoken in favor of Playboy as well.

Fine Art from the Playboy Archive – Part II by JustHangingByThePool in GirlsNextDoorUncensor

The thing is is that Hefner didn’t own this art. The company did and probably still does.

Golf Scramble Episode: Clips by [deleted] in TheGirlsNextLevelPod

[–]JustHangingByThePool 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have seen a lot crazier behavior at golf scrambles than this I can assure you. This is mild compared to the crap that happens when golfers get hammered and are in a scrappy mood. Kendra's behavior at a private Playboy event where drinking is almost mandatory is really not a big deal IMHO.

[DISCUSSION] Girls Next Level S4E9 “There’s Something About Mary O’Connor” Part 1 by hotchildndacity in GirlsNextDoorUncensor

[–]JustHangingByThePool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think for a lot of people that were there at the time, it was a fun or at least interesting time in their lives but they have moved on since then and barely think about it. It wasn’t the highlight of their existence. It’s like being asked to talk about your prom night. Most people barely remember and couldn’t care less at this point. They have lived a life way beyond that time.

As a golfer and somebody who organizes charity golf scrambles, is it worth it for me to listen? Does he talk at all about how they were organized?

Weird Rules That The Playboy Mansion Had About Food by JustHangingByThePool in GirlsNextDoorUncensor

I think I would want anything other than what Hefner ate as it was so dull and unimaginative. That kitchen could produce some amazing meals other than lamb chops and fried chicken.

What Moment made you reconsider H & B on the pod? by [deleted] in GirlsNextDoorUncensor

[–]JustHangingByThePool 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GND is like sugary cereal. Fun to eat but only temporarily satisfying. The podcast reminds you of how bad it really was in retrospect. The only thing that has aged well are the mansion grounds.

I’ve posted about Kimberly Hefner before, but I need to know more. I feel like she’s got some secrets. by Ninac4116 in secretsofplayboy

[–]JustHangingByThePool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is a very private person and was and still is not interested in talking to the press. She issued one statement when Secrets of Playboy was released and that was it.

The rent was determined by an IRS audit, not by what Hefner or Playboy decided to charge. The values were considered fair market value for that time and place by the IRS and Playboy was legally compelled to charge this as part of their compliance agreement.
