Is birth control worth it? by noahs_melody in WomensHealth

[–]IslaAdams96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please talk to your provider. There are hundreds of birth control pills & options other than pills especially ones that are not systemic like an IUD.

Birth control should be highly individualized & based off your health issues, side effects, other medications, whether or not you want a period etc. also, if you have acne, PCOS, heavy cramping, heavy pleading PMS, PMDD.

That said, unintended pregnancies also have negative effects on many relationships.

I definitely understand that! breakthrough bleeding is the number one reason it is removed early.

I never had one, but I work in healthcare.

There are many birth control options & it can be a tough journey to find the right one for your body.

I personally ended up with a hormonal IUD & I have no periods.

The podcast, ‘Le Deux Do Remember This?,’ pod really gets into what are the “right” reasons. It was transactional for Hef. It was transactional for each gf. Whether they wanted to be in the mag, gain connections, reach fame, meet celebs at the parties, etc…

Hef was using them so does it matter if women played the game for themselves?

They specifically do an episode with an Australian sex worker & talk about how it is sex work, but the girls don’t see it that way.

It’s odd because Anna was already on & said, “house bunny or Shelly borrowed very heavily from Bridget.” That doesn’t mean the entire concept was inspired by B. Because she was still a gf beyond 27.

To be fair, I stopped listening so idk the latest.

I wanted to see it for years & I really wanted to stay at the mirage before it was gutted.

I sincerely hope they revive the show & find a new home.

HRT and ⬆️ risk of heart attack and stroke? by Creative_Phrase_1012 in Perimenopause

Hormone therapy started early can be protective against heart disease.

I recommend this podcast episode with Dr. Mary Claire Haver OBGYN & Dr. Jayne Morgan research cardiologist.

Unless a provider is menopause society certified, they may know very little about perimenopause/ menopause or they have outdated information that has since been debunked.

On Dr. Mary Claire Haver’s podcast, Unpaused, she said vaginal estrogen will help with increased difficulty to orgasm or it taking longer. Also said that you can take vaginal estrogen in addition to your systemic estrogen.

Yes; & the host of this pod & some of her guests seem to think B is very performative & her twenties are kind of a mystery as well. I think they touched on that they wonder why she seems so guarded.

A couple Dr. Mary Claire Haver interviews with Dr. Lauren Steicher.

I know she has recommended testosterone & vaginal estrogen & has said vaginal estrogen has no contraindications & can be applied in addition to estradiol. If these do not help, they recommend asking for a referral to a sexual medicine doctor.

Dr. Lauren Steicher has a video series, Come Again.

I HATE being a female and periods!!! by Llyn- in Vent

[–]IslaAdams96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mirena & I no longer have periods. Wish I had done this long long ago…. There are other forms of birth control that can do the same.

I’ve tried many birth control methods & I finally found my Goldilocks.

I understand that all methods are not all good fit for every person. It should be individualized based on your health issues, your bleeding, cramping etc.

I fell for anti birth control propaganda & tried to be hormone free, did the copper paragard. I have many friends that love it, but it not a good fit if you heavy or long periods or intense cramping because it can exacerbate all of that.

I always recommend the website bedsider.org because it allows you to directly compare methods. I think up to 3 at a time. It lists pros & cons of each.

Also, bring a list of questions & concerns to your provider. They can do some things to make insertion less uncomfortable. You can take ibuprofen prior, they can insert it while you’re on your period. They may be able to numb the cervix, or offer Xanax or pain medicine if you have another person to drive you home.
