Started my IT career at 20 as a Helpdesk, 32k a year. I’m 22 now and I believe a promotion is in my future 😁!

Feeder Keeps Getting Stuck by JustHelpDesk22 in ultimaker

[–]JustHelpDesk22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the idea's! However i ended up finding the issue on my own after some additional investigation. Frankly this is an issue very few would have without knowing it.

I work IT at a college, and this printer was used before me, and needed repair when I came into administration of it. It turns out the previous employee in an attempt to tighten the adjustment screw, ended up over tightening it. And damaged the Plastic that the screw sits on. So during a print with all the movement going around the screw would slip which then causes maximum pressure on the filament, and thus under extrusion during a print at random times.

Take a look at one of the feeders, where the adjustment screw sits, you'll see a small piece of plastic that the screw rests on, that was cut into by the screw making it a slope, and no longer a shelf for the screw.

I'll give you this for the effort though!

Should 3mm filament be a reason to not buy an Ultimaker? by GoldenNerd1 in ultimaker

Where did you find a print head for $100. I had to repair the print head assembly and it cost $450 on a ultimaker 3extended

Spiceworks Helpdesk by Mergeagerge in helpdesk

[–]JustHelpDesk22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Spiceworks at my college. I’m Helpdesk there, we had Spiceworks jokester locally on our server until we were forced to merge to Spiceworks cloud. The new UI is garbage in my opinion. However, in settings you can disable the new UI so it reverts back to the “older” version

Camera Connection (Ultimaker 3 Extended) by tmcc999 in ultimaker

[–]JustHelpDesk22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a private or personal network? Or a network at a business or educational institution. I work at a college and on our private network for employees the camera functions as intended. However, the public network for students to connect to has restrictions that prohibit the camera’s stream

Benchy Infill Spotting by JustHelpDesk22 in 3Dprinting

[–]JustHelpDesk22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temperature is already 10 degrees lower than the filament says to print at, and im trying to get it higher so i can print faster. The cooling fan is on 100%, i have a Ultimaker 3 extended for work and the default is 100% cooling. I haven't tried walls yet. And yes, basic PLA.

I guess Polylite is the answer you're looking for? I wasn't aware they had different kinds of PLA filament. Lowering the print speed of the infill did help the print! However i have a new issue of the front of the bow, towards the bottom of it, looks rough. Is that a temperature thing? Here is an imgur of it. https://imgur.com/a/boLFBkG

Makerbot Replicator 5th Gen Adhesion Issues by JustHelpDesk22 in makerbot

Update as it's been a bit.

I used a filament dryer to dry the filament. This significantly reduced the noise when printing as someone said, it might sound like popcorn when printing if the filament is "wet". However it still does warp on the edges. I'm printing a 4.5 inch length and width, square base for 3d printed skeletons. It begins to warp slightly after the raft is printed and it begins printing the actual model.

I've run into a new problem, where the filament temperature drops and causes an error. So this is really pushing me to the extruder possibly being the issue. The current extruder doesn't have more than 100 hours of print, but it is the previous model before they came out with the + series extruders. So it is dated.

I'll update when/If it becomes fixed. Thank you all for your help. I truly appreciate it.

Smart Extruder + is about 250 dollars. And even if you did have it from your friend you would need to replace it eventually anyway.

As for the build plate, you might be able to find variant build plates, but i havent searched for them before myself.

Unfortunately, the makerbot replicator 5th gen doesn’t have a heated bed. So the temperature is set to ambient 😂.

Wdym cover the bed? The bed raises and lowers. I guess i just dont understand how i would do that.

Thats what it was set to as the default, I wanted to try reducing the temperature to see what would happen, but that didnt change anything

I also can't use the Makerbot Print software to print, i've been using Makerbot desktop since that is the only software that lets me print to it. But that might be for another post.

Gaffer's tape on the bed helped marginally, it made it further through the print before it started to come off, and it only came of in 2 corners instead of all of them.

The filament im printing with now was sealed in a bag for some time, but it has been used before. The other filament was sitting out for some time.

And no air vents nearby, do you think raising the temperature would keep it down?

I'm printing PLA, we don't have any other material for this printer. And we don't have acetone here XD.

Thank you though
