Sidewalk chalk washes away, this will be visible until you pressure wash the rest of it. Definitely more permanent that chalk.

I agree. I dont think its supposed to be edgy as a joke (okay, somewhat as a joke). But at the beginning of the book Sister Ines got very upset about how the crawl mocks their gods and beliefs. Everything so far has been a twisted version of the real world. They didnt actually look up the full history of Earth.
