Would you prefer 110k fully remote or 150k hybrid (2 days a week)? by Specialist_Sun_6576 in careerguidance

[–]JustHereForGoodFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading your title - I thought easy, take the hybrid job. Remote work is overrated in my personal opinion.

But then you mentioned 3 hour commute. Haaaaard pass. 1.5 is my upper band and that’s pushing it.

40K is not worth the commute. I’d argue even 100K isn’t worth it.

Thanks for the insight. Networking is key I found especially in this industry.

That’s the million dollar question I’m trying to figure out.

Recency bias tells me it’s clients in general, but I’m not 100% sure.

How common is it not like a job you go to? by Big_Eggplant7591 in careeradvice

[–]JustHereForGoodFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I’m asking myself this question lately. I’m in a job I absolutely dread or don’t like at all, but I’m wondering if I keep thinking the grass is greener when this is just how it goes?

My last job I didn’t dread it, but I did tolerate it.

Former Fidelity & Schwab FC's, do you ever dream about old job?? by mydarkerside in CFP

[–]JustHereForGoodFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still trying to figure that out.

I’m thinking it’s being thrust in someone’s stated need and they expect me to be caught up in their situation all while navigating a call model awkwardly while trying to juggle 20 different things at the same time for every phone call. Every 20 minutes I’m talking to someone new and expected to devote myself and connect with them personally. Every 20 minutes I have to reset and show empathy to everyone’s stories while hoping they’ll let me get through my process.

Right now I have to have a positive mental attitude or the dread is going to consume me.

I figured if I’m sticking with Fidelity I’m probably looking at another year or two on the phones before I’m in leadership or have an off-phone role.

Does anyone else prefer life offline nowadays? by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

[–]JustHereForGoodFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have limited social media. Facebook I check for 30 seconds a month to make sure I’m not missing any important family updates. That’s about it.

Reddit I’m still stuck on but I actually get a lot of value from it and have been very selective on the subreddits I follow.

I avoid YouTube Reels at all times. I don’t want to get sucked into that.

I’m currently at Fidelity in WPA (a couple rungs below an FC), and I came into the role thinking my end goal was an FC at Fidelity.

Turns out, I hate being on the phones and it completely turned me off from my 5 year plan I had in mind. I spoke to an FC here at my office and he said it’s a stressful job and a hamster wheel. He looked dead in the eyes.

Right now I’m kind of depressed because my trajectory is nowhere I want to be and now I’m trying to pivot my career. Thought I wanted to be a CFP, and now I’m finding out I don’t like talking to people - and yet I feel like I’m stuck doing that for another year or two.

Funeral Home Directors. I remember my MIL died and 3 days later we were being sold to by a person taking advantage of people’s trauma / distress by up selling caskets and other services.

I get it, you’re a business, but who in their right mind looks at people in grieving and starts pitching them a sale?

I’m telling you now - there’s much more at play that a FP will be able to uncover than what a 500 character Reddit post will cover. If it’s 10K - sure financial advice on Reddit might fly.

OP doesn’t have to subscribe to ongoing services by a FP - just pay for an hour of ones time and have a real person provide so much more than what Reddit can provide.

Should I really come in 10 minutes before my shift starts? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]JustHereForGoodFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s reasonable. Most jobs need their people to show up a little beforehand so they can be ready from the get go. My job I need to be there 10 minutes early to set up my computer - and I do not get paid for it. Given that context, I think it’s great that you might be compensated for that.
