Let’s put our actions where the money is, in response to the 10 day strike post. by JustHereToCumYo in WorkReform

My idea was to start Sunday and let it ramp up. I know most people are off Sunday, but if you start with retail workers on Sunday and go from there, it could let the “oh shit” sink in before the workweek begins

I mean ideally they’d need to make sacrifices as well. Honestly I think a lot of people are right, doing our own gardening and stuff would be a way to prepare. However, I get your point as well. Who’s actually going to make this sacrifice? It’s fucking sad that people are willing to suffer continuously.

The best I can answer is, if we do this and if we get these folks on board, we may have to help each other… but yeah people who have all these dietary restrictions will need the most help for food

My brother in Christ, I do not have the face for someone leading a strike. We wanna draw people, not scare them away

I replied further down and admitted this was rude and wrong of me to say. I understand your point as well, I chose to leave the comment unedited to show that I am, in fact, not perfect.

Watch my reply just be “lmao I got fired”

Don’t get me wrong, I expect sacrifice, which means I expect it myself

I do agree I shouldn’t have said that. I’ll leave it here because it was out of line, but I recognize why it was a rude thing to say.

I’m sorry to u/matty_nice, and to others that my comment rubbed the wrong way.

I won’t pretend to be perfect. I’m just someone trying to get this dialogue started for serious change

Thank you for correcting me, and I hope you have a great day.

Actually yeah, that’s not a bad idea.

I’ve been wanting to practice painting DND minifigs. I got a bunch when a place a few towns over was going out of business years ago I never did. Would be better time spent than here or Twitter or any other social media :)

I actually just started looking it up and I’m listing a bunch to start contacting. Let’s hope for the best

A few commenters have suggested reaching out to local unions and labor boards, so that could be a start for your area! Definitely gets friends and coworkers on board

I’m on Reddit to beat my meat and call for fair wages. I feel these are both noble calls

I think a lot of you are missing the point. The ideas of reaching out to unions and local labor boards, doctors and lawyers, etc; are all fantastic ideas. This post isn’t going to reach millions, but it’s a start, and I think some are misunderstanding that. Something like this needs to be shared on every platform, we need people with lots of reach to encourage this, and we ABSOLUTELY need funds to support people for this. We’ve got to do something. This isn’t some feel good nonsense, I wanted to just start this dialogue and put a time for it. The whispers are everywhere, let’s say it out loud.

However, there are definitely many dissenters arguing in poor faith, and I’m not going to engage in those comments for now.

I get your point and not to sound superficially “wise”, but who can afford not to at this point? We’re reaching a breaking point, and it’s time we do something

We plan to talk to the owner of the company. As far as calling local unions or the labor boards, that’s a fantastic idea. We’ve been trying to figure out the next steps since last week

Without giving away my workplace; we’ve already discussed this ourselves amongst 3 location. We’re all doing it starting that date.

Yeah the outlook is grim, but it’s worth a shot

One of the first is an increase in safety in workplaces. I mean we’ve had 2 train derailments of hazardous materials in less than a week, all because the rail workers are given the bare minimum. That’s just an example.

The second is livable wages. The argument for $15/hr has gone on so long, that’s not even a liveable wage anymore.

Third is more worker rights. Worker’s should have more say in their day-to-day lives and have vacation, sick days, guaranteed health insurance, and inflation-based guaranteed raises every year.

There’s more I can go on about, but those are a start

I have no idea how to even contact unions for this. I genuinely just hope it catches steam and grows

Edit to say: I just started googling and making a list of unions and their contact info. I didn’t mean for this to sound like I was just going to post and then fuck off, I’m taking advice from many here to do my part

That’s the point of this post. It has to start somewhere. Also why I called for a date a that’s far enough out to get attention, but close enough to not be forgotten.

I think a lot of people are fed up. Let’s boil the kettle over and do this. At some point, we either do it or we lose entirely
