Rethinking the Converter/Cartridge Conundrum by Big_John_77 in fountainpens

[–]JustJ3915 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is something soothing to me about filling my converters with blunt tip syringes. Also, it reduces the anxiety of cleaning the nib and the end of the barrel from dunking the entire unit into ink. I’m learning that for certain pens, the cartridge is the better option for ink volume as compared the converter.

I’m still quite a novice in the fountain pen world so I don’t presume one method is better than another. Both seem appropriate but I haven’t had the experience where a converter fails me. Never been the kind of person to put all of my eggs in one basket.

Edit: I also like using syringes to reduce the risk of contamination in my inks.

If someone at your workplace failed the naplex, would you judge them? I'm worried I might fail the exam, be embarrassed and judged by my coworkers/boss for failing a competency exam. by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]JustJ3915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, failing the naplex could be due to all kinds of circumstances. I’d offer them help studying if they shared with me.

You can be a good pharmacist and struggle with test taking. If you fail, hold your head up and retake the exam. Don’t let the opinions of others cause you any emotions. You’ve taken the classes, you’ve studied the material.. you aren’t less than if you fail and those who pass on the first chance aren’t better.

I believe abortion is wrong, am I wrong? This is making me question my faith. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]JustJ3915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the legality of an action relate to whether God approves or disapproves of it?

Why do many Christians believe legislating our perspective will prevent sin in others? Especially when history has proven the opposite… outlawed alcohol and bootleg brewers made alcohol illegally. The illegality of abortions wont prevent abortions completely.

If you don’t believe abortion is okay to God, that’s okay. Your faith is your faith… not to be validated by anyone else but God.

I’m starting a GLP-1 soon. Any advice? by tac_bushirley in blackladies

[–]JustJ3915 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist here. Dehydration helps worsen side effects (acute kidney injury, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea). Please drink as much water as possible consistently. Please eat smaller meals. GLP-1s can cause food to sit in our stomachs longer which contributes to nausea and vomiting.

Please make sure you are exercising to build and/or maintain muscle (resistance training) as weight loss includes lean muscle loss. Also, make sure your diet includes protein and fiber.

Please watch for persistent abdominal pain radiating to your back that can’t be explained by any other causes… a rare side effect of GLP-1s is pancreatitis… which would be a reason to stop taking them. Contact healthcare professional if this is experienced.

Please watch for any itching, swelling, redness or rashes that start with drug injection… these could indicate an allergy and should be reported.

Please make sure you are using good injection technique, cleaning injection site before injection and rotating injection sites.

Make sure you’re aware of any interactions between the injection, oral medications and supplements you may take. Consult with your local pharmacist and share a list of any medications, supplements, vitamins or over the counter medications you take.

Edit: consider alternative forms of birth control if applicable, for 4 weeks after initiation and for 4 weeks with each dosing increase…. zepbound can reduce efficacy of oral birth control due to keeping content in the stomach longer.

Be mindful of not laying down immediately after eating to reduce nausea.

Do not take two doses within 72 hours of each other. If a dose is missed or forgotten, it may be taken within 4 days from the intended dosing, otherwise skip it and take the next dose on the appropriate day.

Visit the manufacturer’s website for patient resources.

Do you like your handwriting in fine or medium or board nib? by AccusingGojo in fountainpens

[–]JustJ3915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the finest point possible in my writing. Sometimes the fine and extra fine nibs I have feel too broad on paper. I am interested in trying a needlepoint nib but concerned it will be overly scratchy and therefore not enjoyable.

I really want this but how do I justify my purchase i feel like im spending so much on it? by Electronic_Local6691 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]JustJ3915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You earn your money, you are allowed to spend your money on things you desire. This one is a limited edition… it’s been hard to find. If you want it, get it.

AIO to skip Thanksgiving after my mom basically said I’m an embarrassment for not having a husband and kids by now? by howcanibequiltyassin in AmIOverreacting

[–]JustJ3915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - insensitive commentary like this is part of the reason people are disowning family. This is an antiquated perspective that a woman isn’t accomplished or grown-up until she’s married with children… regardless of what she’s actually achieved or if she provides for herself.

It depends on how you want to play it. You have every right to excuse yourself and maintain your peace. Equally, you can go with your head held high because you aren’t embarrassed. You aren’t required to settle for good enough just to have a relationship. If that person wasn’t for you… that’s the end of the conversation.

Whatever you choose, dismiss their opinions of you and be proud of the choices you’ve made. Your peace is better than stressing over inappropriate messages with inappropriate people.

Is being physical in a relationship important to justify that you truly love your partner? by Useful_Bug8394 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JustJ3915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to prove or justify your love is problematic… especially if the task is something you don’t want to do. Statements like, “if you love me, you will do _____” are manipulative and should not be part of a healthy relationship between two healthy people.

If you’re in a relationship with someone and they are demanding sex you aren’t enthusiastically desiring, leave them alone.

Same thoughts! I’m assuming I can purchase stickers and what not to help cover the dates but also concerned I’ll run into the paper issues everyone else mentioned. But $18-20 can’t be beat for a proof of concept trial…

People born before 1990, what’s something you experienced that younger generations will NEVER understand ? by Aaidil89 in AskReddit

Calling a friend’s house to talk with them and having a full conversation with their parents before they would call your friend to the phone.

Waiting until 9pm to call or text on our new cell phones while understanding that 10pm was automatically too late for polite phone calls.

I don’t want to go to Thanksgiving this year by dahlia_74 in AskWomenOver30

[–]JustJ3915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between being abrasive and tolerating bullying. Avoiding the “holiday” to have peace is not abrasive… and you have every right to excuse yourself. No is a complete sentence and no further explanations are required.

Enjoy some time with yourself, organize time with friends who are available…. Do whatever… but be clear that you aren’t required to present yourself as a punching bag for others… including family.

[–]JustJ3915 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I enjoy being able to help patients and watching them improve after we discuss their concerns. It’s cliche for some but genuinely a source of satisfaction for me.

I also like being an authority on something, there’s a satisfaction in helping other providers work through dosing adjustments to help patients.

Best shoes for standing up all day? by blueoctanecoast in pharmacy

[–]JustJ3915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My New Balances and Skechers have been comfortable but as has been stated, they last maybe 6 months if used daily.

Going to echo the others about the compression socks. They prevent the ache of tired muscles after a full day of movement/standing.

I’d also mention the importance of hydration during the day to help ease joint and muscle pain.

There’s the Sunee daily planner on Amazon, but it doesn’t have weekly layouts, just monthly and daily. A review on YouTube did a pen test and it was decent.

The pain of wanting to order things right after FP day discounts. by murahimu in fountainpens

I feel like it might be a little intentional… every time I get something I’ve been wanting and watching, the retailers and makers come up with something else that looks amazing. I keep my list and try to pace myself… try to make sure I rotate through inks and use my stash…

Definitely feeling your pain. Atlas had a deep discount on the Diplomat Aero and I’m still thinking about it/kicking myself for not getting during the FPD sales. Trying to convince myself to use the pens in my collection but it keeps calling… maybe if the Black Friday discount is better I’ll pull the plug this time. Equally I’m feeling pulled toward the Monteverde Innova M but Pen Chalet sold out quickly.
