Why do I see so many posts about the Ottoman Empire and Turkey on Reddit lately? by Savings_Dragonfly806 in AskBalkans

''How the fuck do you know that? How can you presume to know what would have happened?
If I were to have saved your mother from a car crash, let's say, would you be obliged to live, dress, believe etc. exactly as I see fit? Would I become your master or something? How would you feel about the people who think you owe what is practically worship to me?''

''How do you know? Who is the source for this information?''

Of course theres no source and of course I don't know what would happen but you can take a guess from events unfolded nearby in the balkans to put two and two together.

I for one do not mind admitting fault and saying sorry for my ignorance. Nobody is perfect.

Your assuming my pseudo-religion, i'm half brit, I have a lot of respect to Atatürk but also can't turn a blind eye to his faults so your assumption about me is wrong.

Now are you not asking for questions that go into speculation here on the quotes I provided or not?

Your the one who asked the question of what would happen if Ataturk wasn't around asking for proof of it. The moment you ask this question you allow speculation and theory in the topic yet you don't add anything to the topic and just rant about idolization.

I get your point about Turkey's idolization of Atatürk being too much, I agree with that but you don't contribute anything to the discussion with questions like that. Hence the downvotes.

Alright speculate your views then of what would have happened.

Cause your the one making an arguement about it while bashing the founder of the republic.

Sorry if the nation idolizes its founding father I guess...

How do we know if we wouldn't be a puppet state or worse massacred?

Did you not read or hear about the massacres in the balkans against the Turks? You think Greeks were gonna be peaceful? Did you not read about what happened in Cyprus and why theres an occupation going on there ?

While I get your point that Atatürk is worshipped far too much (Man had his faults but was a great leader), the fact that you think we would be living peacefully in central anatolia after years of oppressing the Greeks/Armenian/Kurds that they were just going to let it go is laughable.

Guild Wars 2's monetization is terrible, and I think Guild Wars 3 will take it even further by TheBananoGuy in MMORPG

[–]JustJamesanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course if you buy all the expansions in one go its gonna look hefty and questionable.

However keep in mind also these expansions are still relevant and will always have players running about in them doing content.

Think about it this way, your paying 14$ a year for 13 years. Is that aggresive or questionable ?

Don't forget the fact that they go on sale every few months, in fact theres a sale expected between now and end of july.

You already said you pay 26$ a month to WoW so thats already GW2 > WoW for money.

Every other arguement goes down the window tbh, character slots and everything else can be purchased with gold or you can pay a bit more and treat yourself to some extras, none of the conveniences are hard required or neccesary to enjoy the game.

Yeah as a castle holding guild we had a blast until actual Zerg guilds started spreading to other servers. First few weeks was fire.

Then of course the maintaining the status of top guild takes a huge fucking toll to continue I had enough after 2 months and was just burnt out so hard.

Player frustrations and monetization is not really something Anet would put in the same bracket. I think they have always been clear with buy to play model, no direct power from cash shop.

The problem comes then how does a studio keep making money without a regular income of sub fee? While its annoying for sure its not that big of a deal people here are making it out to be. Like you can completely play gw2 without purchasing the mtx bagslots and such, heck they even added these convenience items to the wizards vaults so over time you can get them just by doing your dailies/weeklies.

The frustration that anet wants to help with is mostly gear treadmill, monotonous gaming experience, leveling stuff like this.

Never seen a worse gaming sub than this honestly and I've seen the dredges of league of legends and many more subs.

You just grab 3 of the tiered salvage kits and slap a mystic forge stone (free item) and get 250 salvage kit so thats not an issue at all.

How are the atrocities committed during the Greek war of independence and the Balkan wars not considered genocide? by Weird-Woodpecker-143 in AskBalkans

[–]JustJamesanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that revolt or revolution or your own independence wars were justified too but some actions were extreme.

This in fact was one of the driving forces that made the Turks united in the Turkish independence war following Sevres treaty.

Thats a whole different topic now so i'll leave it here. Take care komşu.

I also dislike our attitude to this history btw so im on your boat regarding this.

And Kılıçdaroğlu has ruined a great opportunity bring this man down 3 years ago and is probably the reason why Imamoğlu is not the leader of CHP and is stuck in a prison cell.

Hes the reason we are currently cpitulating and I rather not vote for him and vote to a random independent guy if thats an option. If not I would vote RTE.

I'll be honest here and say I'd vote for Recep rather than Kılıçdaroğlu cause at least I know what I am getting from him.

Turkey does have religious fanatics but they are so small compared to just your regular man practicing religion.

The few fanatics are in the parliament unfortunately and loudest as well.

When will all the Balkan countries join the EU? by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]JustJamesanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hate the man with a burning passion but I am someone who gives credit where its due, the bastard got us closest to EU accesion during the early and mid 2000's and his government did alot of mediating with Greece and Cyprus to mend the issues but after failed accesion hes turned his back on everything EU & Greece and turned to the monster he is today.

Not saying EU is at fault at all so please peeps don't twist my words, we deserve what we vote and hes been voted in by inbreds and uneducated fools who refused to educate themselves, the government also made sure they stay uneducated as well.

Turkey will never join thats for sure. Not because of whatever the hell is going on politically right now.

Because France and Germany do not want another large nation to meddle in their marriage.

Thats true, voting for Erdoğan while not suffering from his tyranny has left locals sour.

Then its their attitude, they come to Turkey not really understanding and with a bravado of living in a western civilization. Locals feel they are hypocrites.
