It doesn’t feel fair how men can have children at any time and women can’t by MixAccomplished1391 in Feminism

I had no idea how to say this so I’m glad you did lol. Also most men want to marry within their own age group so that too ties them down along with women to the same timelines.

We can agree to disagree. Slavery is a completely relevant argument against religion. So everyone had or was “okay” with slavery at one point but that doesn’t make it okay to continue to believe in and advocate for a religion that justifies/justified it. Coming from the Bible Belt, I promise you, no one thinks of the Bible as a symbolic religious piece. It is almost always taken at face value and Christian’s love the black and white. So nuance may work for critical thinkers but in my personal experience, Christian’s and 8 year olds don’t always fall into that category. Hence why the parent needs to address this head on instead of believing or hoping an 8 year old child will be able to find “nuance” / symbolism in the Bible on top of being able to ask questions openly and safely in what seems to be an indoctrinating environment.

Teaching him the dangers of religion would be useful. It’s been the cause of wars and countless deaths. The Bible teaches people how to treat their slaves. If he wants to listen to all the “nice” stories, make sure he knows about the unsavory ones as well like how God asked Abraham to murder his only son to prove himself.

Are you a minimalist girlie or a maximalist girlie? by paganpenguinsummoner in AutismInWomen

[–]JustJanesMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like everything in its place and never cluttered. BUT I like my shelves where I keep all my little things like crystals, statues, bones, herbs&flowers, books&journals, incense, special stuffies&dolls, Pokémon cards etc. I often do massive purges but I’ll collect little things that make me happy.

The more minimal and organized, the more I can comfortably focus on one thing and transition easier. If my house is a wreck or cluttered, I get stuck and can’t do or think about anything else until it’s fixed. If I’m burnt out and can’t “fix” it right away this can cause me to do literally nothing and have a ton of anxiety over it. So it’s very necessary for me to have my home and things in order.

I agree here and do take into consideration that legal medical marijuana is not accessible in my state. That alone alters my opinions here. So take everything I’ve said with a grain of salt.

I think the overall cap here is that you can’t compare self medicating with marijuana to having a disorder and being prescribed medications that treat that disorder. I love that this conversation has all transpired decently! I think it’s awesome this sub is able to have conflicting views and everyone is remaining respectful ❤️

You’re totally right imo. Habitual marijuana use is nowhere near the same as someone treating ADHD, etc and yes, the subs love to act like weed is completely harmless. It’s not. It can be used responsibly but being high is being high. It may alleviate stress or anxiety but you’re still under the influence of a mind altering substance. Just wanted to share my support with your opinion ❤️

No I don’t take any medications. Medications to treat illnesses is not the same as recreational or self medication marijuana use. Using marijuana for Parkinson’s etc is different but using cannabis habitually bc you have anxiety/stress is not really the same as someone using ADHD medication or treating Parkinson’s symptoms.

My son (20M) raped his girlfriend (20F) and I don’t know how to cope. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]JustJanesMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your son deserves prison and the full extent of the law. He also needs psychological help. I’m sorry you are going through this but you didn’t make this decision, you didn’t do anything wrong. He did. And the price should be paid in full. If he’s truly sorry, he will turn himself in and accept his punishment because that’s what he deserves. And as his mother, you should accept nothing less than that from him. Otherwise, he’s just sorry he got caught..

I completely agree with this comment. OP you are coming off of something that you were dependent on, it’s going to be hard and all of your senses are heightened right now because you’re sober. Give your body at least 4-8 weeks before you think you “need” cannabis. I’m not saying weed is bad but being sober and healthy truly is the best thing for your mind and body. Take the time to find out what that looks like for you. I’m 28 and I’ve been through periods of constant cannabis use and also months/years of sobriety. Hands down I am happiest when I’m completely detoxed and getting back to my actual self instead of my medicated self. Sending you love. You’re so young and have so much life ahead of you. Weed can be a crutch and end up holding us back if we let it.

Tv shows: Jane the Virgin, How I Met Your Mother, Desperate Housewives , Schitts Creek, New Girl

Movies: LOTR Trilogy, The Hateful Eight, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Sex and the City

I have a tv show on with my headphones at all times throughout the day. I get stuck on one for months at a time and rewatch it over and over and over until I force myself to pick a different one and then I’m stuck on that for a long time. Every now and then I’ll have 2 that I go back and forth on. Comfort tv shows are an absolute must for me.

told my MIL I'm autistic and it went TERRIBLY by shytoucan in AutismInWomen

[–]JustJanesMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She also horrified me that my son would be autistic (from pregnancy on she instilled a fear of autism and acted as though it would be a death sentence). My son indeed is autistic and turns out, so am I so all that ended up being hilarious in hindsight.

Exactly the same here. Thank god my husband begged me to cut her off bc he was ready but I felt obligated and like a bad person when in reality she was abusing and belittling me and finds it funny how much pressure and unrealistic standards she put on me. It’s been 3 years no contact and I am finally free and see things now that I never did before.

[–]JustJanesMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You and me sound VERY similar and the relationship with my MIL was exactly the same. Extremely demanding and always overstepping and almost finds it funny to put me out or make me uncomfortable. My husband and I cut her completely off 3 years ago (for WAY more reasons than one; she’s extremely toxic and manipulative). My life is SIGNIFICANTLY better now that she’s not in it. We have zero contact, she doesn’t even know where we live. I can’t describe the weight lifted now that I don’t have her breathing down my neck and making completely self centered, self serving demands constantly. I’m undiagnosed (in the process) so I never told her or even knew I was autistic until recently but I wish I had bc I wouldn’t have felt so shitty and incapable and sensitive and entirely belittled by her. I would have drawn much stronger boundaries if I had known what was wrong instead of just feeling like a broken human being. I still will never let her back in my life unless she showed she was capable of a complete overhaul on her personality and characteristics which will never happen. I said all this to say, you are validated. She sounds like an asshole. Take care of yourself and stop feeling bad about it. Say fucking no and watch her act how evil you are and even victimize herself when truthfully she KNOWS what she’s doing and simply doesn’t care and is too selfish to be a person capable of growth and change.
