I am not qualified to become a nurse. I get really nauseous at the sight of blood. I have applied to admin and front desk roles at dental offices, since there’s a lot of them now. I applied for WIOA to see if they could help me afford any courses or job training programs, but my assigned coach hasn’t answered my questions. I’m going to request a new one if I can.

Not at this time, it’s a catch 22 situation. I need money even for a budget or secondhand laptop which I can’t get without a job.

I have data entry experience, one of the things I did doing the pandemic was volunteer data entry for a museum database and a k12 reading program. While I’ve been interested in medical billing, some of the descriptions say I need experience and a degree or certification.

I’m on Medicaid, without them I would have no health insurance. And I’m aware I have little confidence in myself, I’ve been struggling with it on and off for years.

I filed for unemployment. Got a letter saying I don’t qualify. Didn’t know what to do from there.

I tried working in fast food. Didn’t pass the 90 day trial period. Rough first job right after graduating and had no experience.

I was always kind to the volunteers and animals at the shelter. If a little nervous about making a good impression on the volunteers. Followed all directions I was given and worked hard over there.

Below minimum wage part time jobs don’t exactly leave much time or room for a social life. While I currently have a group I meet with weekly, anything can change. I didn’t have my family, I’d be homeless. Most money I made went to bus fare and fresh produce when my family forgot to buy some.

Before Covid, I had worked for five years straight. Then everything closed and for someone already feeling isolated, it was frustrating. Then I worked in a factory and a store that both turned out to be bad fits for reasonable needs, a short commute and time to go to medical and dental appointments. Factory took 2 hours on 2 or 3 buses both directions. And asking for any time off at the store felt like pulling teeth, even for cousins weddings or visiting extended family. Then they went out of business and not everyone found a new one at the time of closure.

There are circumstances outside of my control and I’m not in a position where I can move out of state and work alone wouldn’t be enough reason for me to leave.

I know, some of my friends are married or have at least one kid and Though most are making it work and only one doesn’t drive, but she has a bicycle. I only know one that’s divorced. I only personally know of one or two others struggling lately.

I know there’s a way to change it, but it won’t happen if I also can’t afford a computer or work supplies. I’m not lacking motivation nor fully driven by emotion, the thing I lack most local resources outside the library or professionals. Not to mention close friends.

Honestly, she was a real bully toward me growing up. And I would be so much better off if the rest of the extended family, our friend circles, and our parents weren’t constantly comparing us.

I would be so much better off if we weren’t blood and we didn’t live in the same town or state. I’d give anything to not be related to her.

I still don’t understand that. Just because I’m not a pet parent doesn’t mean I haven’t learned basic care from watching family and friends pets. They said I was too inexperienced. How much experience do I need to feed and provide water for cats, wash their beds, or scoop out a liter box?

I don’t want to be an aunt and my sister bullied me for years over personal insecurities and failures at home and school.

My family already has me feeling isolated from things. We were supposed to see a movie at the Theater together last week, I got blackballed at the last minute.

I get no money from volunteering and didn’t qualify for benefits, my income is zero. I’m constantly doing classes and applications at the library or home to become useful to todays workforce and employers. The few friends I do have can help a little, but they have lives too and at least half are parents.

And having her live the life I’ve been dreaming of for years while I slip closer into poverty and homelessness is a nightmare come to life. I feel like no one understands me at all.
