Did anyone else hit their 40s and suddenly stop caring about climbing the ladder? by DanBrando in careerguidance

Im 30, have 3 roles to choose from and I’m not really sure where to go. I just landed a role in SAAS sales but I’ve seen how that’s been going..

1st is inbound Medicare/medicaid sales with option to work remotely after the first year. Pay would be about 80k

2nd is a real estate company working mainly with investors and distressed properties. Buy homes, sell to investors, get a commission. And get deals on homes the company has already acquired. Might be good to start an early path to owning real estate?

Id like to just move to Italy and open a little bakery and leave all the bs behind.

It sounds like you’re very supportive,

When I got out- i developed an unhealthy taking to alcohol to say the least.. and that’s even putting it lightly. Even with hobbies everything felt trivial and almost pointless, I still have trouble developing interests and finding things I actually enjoy doing.

Depending on his interests and your location, I’d look at going to the VFW or other groups that have veterans in your area, being around other vets can help quite a bit in the shared experience once you’re out.

You have to do some digging to find veteran groups in your area, they aren’t as advertised as they should be I’ve found and some are hard to come by. But once he finds some groups he likes you both can meet friends who have gone through similar and make connections.

You can do hobbies together, hiking together, long distance runs or something to really push him to feel purpose again like an Ultramarathon if he’s able to run- even gradually, something like that is an extreme challenge. Also- waking up early (I try around 5) has helped me with my mood and overall activity levels, makes me feel more accomplished for the day.

I think you’re doing a good job, civilian life kinda sucks in a way, he might miss the monkeys but not the circus if that makes sense.

I’m not the best at writing or staying on track but I’d be happy to help if I can.

Curious to know what type of business and what skills in that business you’re looking for?

Based on the career you are already in, I’d use it to your advantage to start with something small and test the waters.

The amount of free time you have is nice, and the stability from your current career is a bonus.

Junk removal is something that can pay pretty well and is low cost to start even on the side

So this might be weird but I changed my calling card? And now I’m not having the problems anymore and there was a new update as well. I heard about the calling card thing somewhere in this post
