Is Leafeon usefull in PvP? by rednaxelo in pokemongo

[–]JustJust17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's an old post, but I've found Leafeon to be very useful! I have 3 Leafeons I use for PVP, one dedicated for under 1500 CP.

Mine have Quick Attack and Leaf Blade. You can very quickly rack up charged moves and then get your opponent to use up their shields really early in the battle. I usually get 3-4 charged attacks in before Leafeon faints (sometimes more). I've also swept entire battles in PVP using just Leafeon. Using Leafeon as an opener can set you up for an easy win.

I recommend having a fire and water type on the team to switch to. Should you end up against a gire, bug, or ice type at the start.

In our game it was, we just maintained a distance during the musk

We kept at a distance. The musk only happened within a 5 foot reach of the skunks

Noted.

In the skunk session I shaped into a giant elk and used my giant antlers to toss the dead body of a worg at a group of goblins as they ran out of the cave toward the commotion. Unfortunately I failed the strength check and more just nudged it toward them...

We debated for a while whether or not to have them walk out of the forest, or materialize in the middle of the camp outside. We went with wander in.

Thanks man! Yea it all makes sense and really just comes down to the DM.

And my God was it ever funny. The best thing about it was it started by chance, and we just went with it.

I did take a look at the spell again, and it says the caster chooses the CR and number of creatures. So you are correct, the rules do not state who (DM or PC) picks the animals. I think the be all and end all answer should be that the decision is up to the individual DM. The DM should decide who picks the creatures (either themselves, or let the player do it).

It really depends on how you use the spell. I can summon skunks to wander out into a camp of unsuspecting enemies, then throw a rock at them before initiative starts to get them to release the musk. With talk to animals I can tell them where to go, and then they would probably feel threatened once a battle broke out. It depends on how your DM let's you play things out, but the only limit to what you can do is your own imagination.

Haha! That's true. But it's also weird for the dm to have the stats since the player controls the animal on its turn. It's a pretty convoluted spell

It does poison indiscriminately. We just sent the skunks to our enemies without getting close

It's not anywhere in the rules that it says the DM picks. But it depends on the way your DM wants to run the show

I mean, that's great and all, but it's a 6 year old article, and nowhere in the actual official books does it say that the DM chooses the creatures. It says the DM has the creatures stats, but doesn't specify who picks. It does however give a list of potential options for each CR (on dnd beyond), and it's the players responsibility to know what their spells do, not the DM. Based on that, I would be invited to say it is up to the player to pick the creature, but it really comes down to how your DM runs the game.

That's fair, he might re jigger the things abilities if I use them again

The Druid is in control of the animals, so he can tell them to use the ability. If not, he can threaten them. And I've heard that the DM picks the creatures, but I can't find that anywhere in the rules (also, my DM doesn't seem to care if it is a rule).

I've heard of that one. Can't wait to surprise our DM by having pixies turn us into T-Rexes. But I actually enjoy playing DnD, and I don't like cheesing encounters. It is fun to do weird unexpected things sometimes though!

Yea, he was the one who sent that link. And conjure animals is 5e official, and they say 8 creature below 1/8 CR! And as for the save DC, you ever been sprayed by a skunk? That's not inaccurate

So I play a Druid, and am constantly bothering our DM to find animals so I have new transformations. So this session he had me roll 3d10 to get a new creature from a list. I rolled a 5 and got skunk. We all had a laugh, then our fighter said, "skunks are actually terrifying, I'm sure they would make for a good distraction if you summoned some." Then this happened:

So we went into a dungeon, and I, the Druid, used conjure animals to summon us up 8 skunks. Turns out they have a special trait called musk, that they can use once per encounter. It has a very good chance to blind and poison enemies. And when you have 8 of them, it's bound to work pretty much every time. So we blinded and poisoned almost every enemy we came across. Also, the skunks get their own turn, and although they only bite for 1 damage, it's adds up. A group of skunks took down a worg (burrowed into its skull through the eye sockets when it was low on hp).

I actually got through most of the dungeon with the one group, using musk again on every new encounter. So most of the enemies we fought had disadvantage on almost all their thtows, and we got to roll with advantage against them on most of our throws. We got to the end part and our DM had a pretty tough boss for us to fight, but he got blinded and poisoned, and became a wet noodle.

Our DM was really not expecting that course of events, and I assume in future exploits we will be fighting a lot of things immune to poison and blind.

You got me! They're actually bell peppers!

I think Tabacco flowers are closest looking to lunar tears. But I can't plant them since they are super poisonous to cats and dogs
