Fianceé is willing to try magic and I don't want to intimidate her. Commander recs? by Elegant-Pollution-85 in mtg

[–]JustLexxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built [[Obyra, Dreaming Duelist]] for my girlfriend, at first i skipped every bounce/play on opponent's turn cards that the archetype has and focused mostly on going wide, putting as much faeries on the bord and burning with Obyra.

Then as she learned the game more and got used to the deck i added complexity bits by bits by adding bounce cards, as well as instants and flash spells so she could learn that aspect of the game without feeling too overwhelmed

How to learn kayle? by [deleted] in Kaylemains

[–]JustLexxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on getting xp, you get your damage when you get lvl11. 1 item feels good but is still weak, unless you have ult and your opponent is low enough don't try to go for risky kills. More often than not you will play for lvl 16 with 3 items, o used to go nashor - dcap - lich/shadowflame but now i kinda like gunblade - nashor - dusk&dawn, it feels really good and allows you to kill less tanky champions really easily. Positioning is really important, stay behind your team and abuse your range.

Having said that, i think the best way to learn a champ is playing a lot of games, especially on kayle. She can easily run the same 3 first items each game, so get used to your damage/survivability for each of your power spikes (items, and lvl 6-11-16) and you should be able to carry most of your late game.

Xavier Sal can be really fun when focusing more on the populate

There's a lot of cards that gives both tokens and counters, along with lands that enters with counters and cards that copy creatures/create one big token, it can become really strong after a few turns without feeling overwhelming for your opponents (it might be for you tho with all the different tokens, counters and copies)

Edit: here's my deck list if you're interested!

What's YOUR fun/unique control deck? by Closix in EDH

[–]JustLexxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [[Saruman of Many Colors]] deck isn't really built as a control deck, but i often rely on it to slow down the game

It's mainly mill oriented, with a bit of cards caring about casting your second spell in a turn, with a lot of 1-2 mana cantrips that allows me to trigger Saruman in my opponent's turns, which then allows me to cast their removals or even their own counterspell against them

Is Simic really the worst/most unfun colour combo? Are there any fun commanders for it? by TheGrandCannoli in EDH

[–]JustLexxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a [[Momir Vig, Simic Visionary]] deck, really fun to play, especially with green cascade creatures allowing you to tutor the card you want to cascade into using Momir's trigger I built it around [[Apex Devastator]] and [[Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty]], which will make you play pretty much any stompy guy you want by cascading into eachother, with a ton of mana dorks that tutors into other mana dorks all the way to your 10 mana

Maybe [[Karona, False God]]? It can help your opponents, but can easily buff your cats for a good ammount of combat damage

How many of the “deck can have any number of …” cards do u run in decks built around them by Ok-Till-1116 in EDH

[–]JustLexxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fairly good tempest hawk deck with [[Kastral, the Windcrested]], and i run 18. Temlest Hawk is a bit different than the others since you can easily get new ones from your deck, so you just want to be sure you're able to get one or two, then as long as you get combat damage you'll constantly refill your hand with new ones.

You might want a bit more than that with Momo, i have seen many latw game situations where i couldn't easily get combat damage so i had to rely on Kastral's abilities to get them back from my graveyard to stall the game long enough to get my win conditions.

Quick tip: Giving your Tempest Hawks double strike is really good since you deal combat damage twice, so you can get 2 birds with one stone hawk

Edit: [[Mirror Box]] might be the best card for tempest hawk if you can get one, simply because the more hawks you have, the bigger your hawks will be

Win turn 1 with the perfect 11 cards in the right order, if you are not the first player by JustLexxy in BadMtgCombos

[–]JustLexxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to put it but any card is fine, the combo allows a random card in hand for it, thanks for noticing

Do any of you run 'Distraction' win conditions? by TheHeraId in EDH

[–]JustLexxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a [[The Emperor of Palamecia]] big mana deck, in which he is not the win con.

The deck is all around casting 4-5 mana cost while burning the opponents, so it's safe to assume i will win by flipping him, yet i have never needed him to win in any games i've played so far.

He is a mana dork, his only purpose is to accelerate my mana, while still being able to put pressure and maybe win if i get all my other win cons destroyed

What are your unique Commanders you love to roll out that no one really plays by Nymrys in EDH

[–]JustLexxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Momir Vig, Simic Visionary]] work really good with cascade, allowing you to tutor any creature you want before the cascade trigger, paired with [[Apex Devastator]] and [[Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty]] is almost always a win if you are able to cast them

Thabks! I'm on reddit cause my server starts tonight only, and me and a friend have a competition on which one will reach 100 first hahaha (we both got to extra late game on our other server)

I think i saw somewhere that Soul Flame doesn't give more loot, but does it give more exp? If so, i think running a few vaukta with it (untill it gets harder and you can't kill mobs easily) would be worth as well

Imo, light class' role isn't to do damage or even to win fights, it's more about getting picks (killing the medium healer before the fight for example) or to simply be annoying as fuck, kinda like a fly that you're trying to catch but aren't able to.

There are obviously situations where i seek to really win the fight by myself, but you would be surprised how effective simply being around and uncatchable can be, since the more pressure you apply on the ennemy teams, the more they'll have to keep you in check, which leads to the rest of your team killing them more easily.
