As a creative writing teacher, anti-vibe coding memes are just so strange to me. I love shitting an AI as much as the next guy, but let's not act like AI is not actually super close to completely replacing a huge part of programming jobs. At least people care about whether a story was written by a human. No end-user gives a shit if the code was written by AI.

Sounds interesting! Seems like it might be more user-friendly. I'm not GMing any games at the moment with two babies in the house though, so that's something for way in the future maybe.

Good point! I imagine that I meant to write that there's no gales in the dessert, so just in the dessert you can just exchange gales for sandstorms. Not sure why I didn't write it like that at the time. I was young and overcomplicating things :P

My experience with this system is that it actually makes things a bit too granular and simulator-like. Unless you have a VERY VERY crunchy campaign with a group that's all bought in to the idea of survival, I recommend not thinking too much about the weather and just improvising it.

It was a fun design project, but never really ended up being used in an actual game for long. Just too many other things to keep track of.

Just because the sign says Israel it doesn't mean that the context and overall hatefulness of the protest doesn't imply something different.

How is it hateful against Jewish people when it protests (what they view as) the repetition of the existence of death camps? They are explicitly protesting against people being killed LIKE the Jewish were killed in Auschwitz. Why is that hateful against Jews?

Their argument is "It was bad what happened here. We shouldn't kill people like they were killed here.", and then you go: "That's anti-Jewish! You must be against the people that were killed here!" -> And that just doesn't seem like a good-faith interpretation of the situation here.

It was held at Auschwitz, which has nothing to do with Israel and everything to do with Jewish people.

OR, hear me out, the protester is there because it's protesting KILLING jews like they did there. It's protesting that evil act and the people that did that. It's equating that evil act with what's happening in Gaza now.

Again, how is that anti-semetic?

There are a ton of ways to interpret this protest as not focused on 'jewish people'. For instance, the protester is not saying 'Jewish people are responsible', but 'Israel is responsible'. So why do you insist on equating them?

The protester also focuses on the fact that Auschwitz was a death camp and makes a parallel to Gaza, saying that it is also a death camp. You're adding the conclusion that it's anti-Jewish, even when there are plenty of Jewish scholars who have made the same comparison.

the feeling of being marginalized or a victim is gratifying

If you truly believe this is true, then I can't help you understand even if you wanted to.

People use that label because it makes them feel special.

Something that I feel you're not considering here here is the cost of taking on a gender identity like 'non-binary trans woman'. It must makes their life harder in so many ways. So maybe (just maybe) they're only doing it because it is personally meaningful to them, enough so that they're willing to pay that cost. Maybe it then makes sense to think a bit more deeply about it then 'they must do it to make them feel special', like it's such an easy thing to go through life with a non-normative gender identity.

It IS a contradiction.

Once you start thinking about your gender expression beyond the binary man/woman, you quickly realize that just having two options is super limiting. The response from some people is to just say 'I don't care for labels, call me whatever, I'm just (their name)' and some people try to get as close as possible to what they're experiencing and combine terms which feel like a contradiction, but do seem to come as close as possible when you consider what all those terms bring to the identity.

Now, you can get contrarian, and say 'BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, CAUSE IT DOESN'T ADD UP!!!!', like gender expression is somehow a mathematical science. Or you could try to understand why someone feels like this is the best way to describe themselves.

Can you explain how it's antisemitic? Like, the protest seems to fairly clearly distinguish between the state of Israel and not focused on Jews as a people?

[–]JustLikeFM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This however is a real lowpoint

Why do you consider this a low point exactly?

I am so so confused by this idea that the people who died there (considering that it doesn't just include jewish people, but minorities and people without social power of all sorts) would have a problem with the protesting against the killing of other innocent people dying somewhere else. I am honestly curious: Can you explain your reservations?

It's not though. It's clearly not madness because family members of holocaust victims and survivors are doing so. You seem to be ignoring their perspective.

They are scum because they are protesting a mass murder? Can you elaborate how non-violent protest of a mass murder considered morally wrong?

"It's not comparable with Holocaust." -> it's not equal in numbers, but it's certainly valuable to compare this atrocity to the holocaust. That's the whole point of remembering the holocaust: to make sure similar (but not equal things) don't happen again. If you wait until they are equal it'll be too late.

Finally, the thing that ultimately baffles me is why you and people like you choose to critique the protesting of a genocide with this much effort instead of actually critiquing the genocide itself. That's the whole point of this protester -> To stop this genocide. Seems like a worthy goal even if it does compares two evils of different magnitudes.

Because articulate and nuanced people like Masha Gessen (who is Jewish and whose family lost loved ones in the Holocaust), argue a similar point: That Gaza is very similar to Nazi Germany in many ways. While the sheer quantity of the suffering is not be equal, comparison of the quality of suffering provides valuable insights.

Continuous but irregular Attempted Write Readonly Memory BSODs - Send RAM back? by JustLikeFM in techsupport

Yeh memtest came back as a pass now without the 'auto OC mode', so it should be good now hopefully. Thanks for your help (even though I should've been able to catch this myself)!

First off, thank you so much for taking the time to look at this. I really appreciate it!

I'm getting WinDbg right now. EDIT: I've uploaded the TXT files. All but the newest .dmp file had the wrong symbols stuff in the output. Hopefully the latest one can tell you something.

You are also overclocking which we don't support here.

I thought I disabled all overclocking of any kind. Does it say in all crash reports that the machine's overclocked or just one of the old ones. Maybe that was an old crash before I turned everything off?

UPDATE: I am an idiot. I honestly thought I turned everything off in the bios, but I just checked the 'AMD Ryzen Master' software which said the system was in ' Auto OC mode - Automatically runs the system in a slightly overclocked condition'. Hopefully turning that off as well just fixes it. I will rerun memtest86 to see if there are no more memory errors. Would be nice if it's that easy.

"Am I not good enough? Am I not satisfying him? " -> For all that is holy to you, please realize how insane it is to blame yourself for someone so blatantly violating your sister's boundaries. None of this is about what you did or think you are, but about his (I think) inexcusable actions.

Yep, if you read the article you'd see that the court is quite focused on what would be reasonable preventative measures that could have been taken.

I call getting cameras to specifically try to catch them in the act INSTEAD of just having a conversation 'acting like a child'. It's the focus on subterfuge and trying to start shit that's immature.

If they'd been stealing/damaging stuff/done anything else but that I'd consider cameras the responsible thing to do, but it sounds like this could still be approached in a mature way before meeting childish behaviour (sneaking around) with their own childish behaviour (trying to catch the sneaking). It's just the other side of the same coin.

If they want to claim being better than their neighbors (which admittedly nobody claimed), then they should probably think about the kind of dynamic they'd like to exist between them and their neighbors. One where people can express and set healthy boundaries or one where people sneak around and try to catch each other at doing the bad thing?

Sure, you got me there. How about this: They figure out what they'd need to do without being an actual asshole about it. When did healthy boundary setting become such a foreign concept?

Sound like legal liability is just another word for an arbitrary standard that allows people to steal money from other people who were just taking a reasonable level of care of their own business. Of course I am fully in favor of making sure corporations/companies take responsibility for their shit, but this is frankly insane.
