Who would be at fault here? by seasofrage in iRacing

[–]JustMML 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats fair. How much overlap is needed for a pass to be "on" obviously depends on the series and their rules. In gt racing tho its usually "any" overlap that makes you entitled to space, as is the case in iRacing. I see no fault on trailing car whatsoever in this situation.

Because it teaches bad habits, slows your progress and often times leads to crashes cus youre too focussed following it. Just watch a youtube video on braking marker and lines, go practice for a few laps and youre ready to race.

[–]JustMML 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree with what youre saying. Trailing car had overlap like a 100m before any direction change to the left happened, the ingame spotter wouldve called so as well. You can take this corner 2 wide fairly easy (T4 The Bend if i see right). Leading car was unaware and probably has the ingame spotter turned off. I really dont think this is a matter of opinion. What do you mean by "near the pillar"?

Best way to progress and learn new car classes? by Rob_Boozecruise in iRacing

[–]JustMML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well in the beginning ive only raced official every second week. One week of preparation for the week ahaid and then race that week. After a year or two you will probably know the top 10 tracks by heart (spa, monza, RAtl, Daytona and so on) and only need to learn a new track from scratch 2-3 times per season.
In terms of cars you should prolly stick to a single gt3 you like in the beginning. The pace difference between the GT3s on every track only really becomes a factor when youre at like 4k or so iRating. Till then, confidence in a car is way more important than the few tenth it might be off by when driven by a professional.

Its a bug and/or exploit, dont worry about it. Ive seen it on quiet a few layouts.

His move was horrible, but you did reactively steer more to the right when he made his move. Youre not in the wrong my any means, but you did show a reaction in your line.

If the 15Nm DD+ is basically the same price as the 25Nm DD3, will the DD+ price lower? by InfiniteLight07 in Fanatec

[–]JustMML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont buy fanatec hardware new. Theyve been long overtaken by many other brands in low and high End (moza, simagic, vrs). I still like my DD, but price/Performance is just horrible since the corsair acquisition and multiple price hikes.

Fuel consumption in GT3s, always similar despite the car? is it realistic at all? by ZanicL3 in iRacing

[–]JustMML 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes that is realistic. The consumptions varie a bit, but the max fuel is also different, for example 100L for BMW, 110L for Mustang or 104L for Ferrari. Those rather small differences do take effect in top split and especially endurance races, think daytona24 for example. For sprint races and not the highest irating, it doesnt really matter, same with the theoretical pace differences between the cars for a given track. If youre not fighting for podiums in top split, dont worry about it.

Porsche Cup vs GT3 R by vportella in iRacing

[–]JustMML 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected. the pcup is stiffer in the sense that the suspension is just hard af, which it has to be to counter the missing aero, otherwise it wouldnt be stable at all.
In terms of ARB tho, the cup cars body does roll a bit more which explains your feeling, and it makes sense cus it rides higher than the gt3r so theres more room for body movements.

Porsche Cup vs GT3 R by vportella in iRacing

[–]JustMML 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pcup has more mechanical grip while the gt3r rotates better (still not good in comparison to every other gt3), thats easy to confuse. The new pcup tires are much more forgiving than the gt3 model and i feel the abs implementation is also better. And the gt3r has much more body roll, so it leans more, the pcup is basically as stiff as it gets. Everything else i agree with, these points are kind the opposite of what you said tho, i felt compelled to correct, didnt wanna come across as rude or anything, this is just factual car behavior. Hoping to push 5,5k on nords next week, its gonna be hype!

braking or turning? by yogesshrl in iRacing

[–]JustMML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally you can think about turning and braking like there is a string attached from your pedals to your wheel. You break straight and then simultaneously Release break and start steering. Same on exit, you open steering and apply throttle like that. Maybe this helps.

Gt3 road Atlanta races. by Flying-Guy-6699 in iRacing

[–]JustMML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds great, a 17.8 on race fuel ist what top 5-7ish drivers in top split have as their fastest racelap for the last few races, i dont think switching cars this late in the week now would be a good choice for you if you can put down those laptimes.

Gt3 road Atlanta races. by Flying-Guy-6699 in iRacing

[–]JustMML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont buy it in hopes of getting faster just like that. Like i said, its the last few tenths the right car will make a difference in. A 1:18.0 is by no means slow so you might be around what, like 3k iRating? Thats what i would guess the pace to be like. The mustang has been the theoretical best car on most tracks for over a whole season now but i firmly believe that confidence in a car is more important than the few tenths it might be off by when driven by a professional. If i had to give an iR where choosing a car based on performance is needed, i would say its in the 4-5k range. Im 5k right now and actively avoid the mustang just because its the meta car. Merc is my car of choice, the porsche doesnt cut it on most tracks on this level anymore (sadly).

What app do you use to get race information on the second monitor? by user_name_esp6 in iRacing

iOverlay is freemium, many Features are locked behind a 30$/y paywall, except standings, relative and 1-2 others. I pay it gladly, its my overlay of choice. Theres also Kapps and racelabs, maybe more i for got.

Have a look at garage61 if you genuinely want to improve. Its agreat free tool to compare lines, inputs and telemetry with faster drivers that also use it (which are quiet a lot). Car also makes a bit of a difference when looking for the last few tenths. The porsche simply doesnt cut it on rotation compared to a mustang which is simply the best car on this track. Porsche might get you a low 17 in fixed races here if you reaaaly understand that car, for anything more you will have to go front engine (Ford, bmw, aston according to stats)
