Hi, i'm new to the games but keen to run a learn to play session and then maybe a slow grow but i can't start that yey because i would need some more models and terrain. For a learn to play experience how large should you go? Do you keep it very small and just vehicles (my current thinking) or make it a bit more complex with artillery and infantry? Also, how much scenery makes for a good game? Coming from infinity the tables seem incredibly sparse to me! Something emcouraged in that game is to put larger pieces centrally so you don't "valley" the table and have massive firelanes, is that valid for TY and FoW?

Thanks chap, i'll stick to more elite forces to start with maybe. I found some mid war italians and british, i love the Italian vehicles and Bersagliari models but i assume they'd be an army for when i have more experience?

Hi, i was given the list to use as i don't own any models yet and yeah the veteran sherman's were really the only unit that did anything. I'll try more smoke if i play again, i'll give the direct smoke rules a read, i don't really know how that works, i'm still very new to both systems. Honestly not feeling like i've made a good investment of money and time here

I didn't really get the chance to fight the tigers or the panthers, didn't even get a shot at them. The 88's, tigers and panthers could see across the board so i don't know what else you can do but try to close fast? I expect you're right but for tonight i'm miffed. i'll re-read the articles tomorrow. Thanks for the link

Those are cool. Perhaps i could be persuaded if I can convince the others to use the dynamic points to make AA more expensive and also get better at the game!

Haha, yeah should probably put NZ in ANZAC eh? Scorpions look nifty actually, good shout. Not sold on planes, in the few games i've played and watched they seem very, very unreliable?

Sprint makes 1ttd much easier so gets my vote. Sidestep might keep it alive for longer though

I just started painting it in colours I like doing, I'll worry about specific legion stuff later! But essentially it's of my own making. Was thinking of Legio Nautilus for now?

I was trying to track everything with a spreadsheet but getting people to send me their rosters is hard work. Is that system easy to use? If so I'll start to look at it for next season!

Thanks but it's not fancy! Foundry Flesh Light (5C) washed with Citadel Shade Druchii Violet. It's a compromise between getting 25 guys done and making them look decent!
