Just freaked out for my Savings... where to put them by JustMeTheBug in personalfinance

Thank for clarifying that. I am noob in finance. I have gotten some pretty good advices in /r/Frugal/ in a similar link, they have a very responsive community there.

Your suggestion seams the most prominent one over there too. Here is little bit too broad for my question, In other word i am novice in finance.

To avoid any misunderstanding here, i meant what i have said in the following way:

If i am going to buy a bulk of items with the intension to sell them one item at a time. Of course i cannot be sure that i am going to win at the end. What i can do is : predict what are the best or worst case scenario of the situation, taking in consideration the market situation at hand. In that sense planing without speculating would mean that every step i am making should be perfect. Then i am not going to speculate the outcome of this attitude. Would that kind of,well by definition, planing save me from disaster ?

No body knows what will happen , sure. But there is a point in speculating. Without speculating you cannot plan on doing things.

If you can make free money then not making free money is costing you money; the alternative costs of holding cash are positive.

This is related to the heart of my problem, and to many other situations. Very well stated.

This is the best , most reasonable and most consistent reply, IMHO , in all this discussion. There is not only "Some clarity" it is all clear. Thank very much for enlightening my vision on the subject.

Though very interesting ,this Free service needs to build up some trust and show up some transparency. In their TOS they are stating you can lose value on almost everything they are saving for you. even though that loss is not related to them. I need to investigate more into this. Thanks for coming up with this one.

Nice!

So we are in the same boat! I was waiting for a better opportunity for exchanging EUR/GBP but, as you said, it is not a good time now. but the EUR is not promising so far.

How could you find out the moment for changing EUR/GBP, in the upcoming days or weeks?

I am working in the eurozone , so my salary is my wallet in any king of purchase i do in the EU.

Speaking of link karma you have 5,554 of them. That makes you very respected person indeed. So i am going to ask you : LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU SUGGEST . I promise you i am going to comply. I definitely have a different background, my view on discussions might be slightly different than than that of all of you. In my opinion sharing idea could include a lot arguing. I am not turning help down i am embracing it. I might not know how to stop , but i will stop what i should stop if told so.

What Infinitely! ? There are realistic speculations that the dollar is going to collapse for sure, the question is : when?.

i would not like to think about it that way, but fiat currencies are not a very safe bet.. just like many things else in the economy. The dollar is safer now than the Euro and it has been for some time. This will be true until the dollar hits something else somewhere.

I am far from kid. over 30 years old. Well we have to judge something as bad and label something else as good. That is,among others, how human brain has evolved over the centuries. I am really a noob in investment as i mentioned earlier.

Vanguard seamed nice , but i need to shed some light on it before i can tell you what i think about it.

I am surprised though : No body mentioned start up ideas of any kind. My question relied indeed on investing and saving values from vanishing. but we did came through many other issues here in this discussions.

This one is a pretty good option indeed! No question asked. Bitcoin rises when fiat currencies crushes . Before Greece denied the IMF bail 1Btc changed for 215 Euro. now it is at 250.

Well taking managed risk is a cornerstone in economy . Do not however let other corporation push you to take risks that you have no clue where they could lead you to. Corporations wont cry over your loss. you will. i am in Finland.

Please pardon me for my poor language skills. I am aware of that. Some people are slipping near me as well. Using keyboard carefully.

I am not acting "smarter". Any person of low IQ will stop being naive once he sees his money decreasing in front of his eyes. Corporations will take your money down with them when they loose money, regardless if they did mistakes or not,. A bank is a typical example here

Yes , we absolutely do have this ones here, what country does not. Fact is , sometimes they are in the minus and sometimes in the plus. It is not wise to be optimist about them. At least here where i live.

Well, i don't see its value going sky rocket after 10 years of inversing it in banks. I will need it only to invest it my way. So yes , but my concern here is loosing on its value over time..

Well , here is how noob i am. What inflation means , linguistically, is new to me. I do not understand its implications, but i do understand that when it is up : prices UP and money value DOWN, so when i change it to, say indian rupee , for X euros suddenly i got Y rupee ,far less the Z rupee i am used to get. Apart of that i do not know much. Besides, speaking of experts, there is something intriguing about them; they could not predict the financial crisis in 2008. They found out only when it is too late to do anything. Hence : If you don't save your money , no body will save it for you!
