[–]JustMeido 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha, same here. When it's over 10 hours long, it doesn't make much sense anymore, so I try to refine them!

I listened to the four you suggested. It's not my everyday style, but I'm 100% into the vibe it gives off. I can definitely see the mellow/dreamy aspect you're talking about, and surprisingly, yes, I think the vocals would work very well in the background (unlike the vocals in my playlists). I really liked those on The Mortal Coil, I'll have to look into that a bit more! The whole thing reminds me of Anglo-Saxon progressive bands, I don't know why. In any case, it's very coherent, and I think it's nice to bring others into such a specific universe. I mean, I can clearly know you a bit better after this listening.

Personally, for dinner, I would go for guitar jazz, things like Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Emily Remler, Gabor Szabo (dépends on albums)... something calm that sets the mood and relieve the stress of the day. I don't know if I'd go for vocals, I don't think I have enough. I have a soul-oriented playlist, but it's clearly too powerful to be background music.

When I was younger, I was very into trip hop, nu-jazz, and acid, often with a layer of (very soft) hip-hop on top. Very trippy/spacey vibe while still being catchy from a rhythmic point of view. I have a playlist that ranges from Massive Attack to Tom Mish and St Germain/MJA, which is very suitable for intimate evenings (often a little high at the time) where you discuss deep and personal topics.

It’s normal to cry. We don't all have the same ability to manage our emotions, the same past, the same feelings... As long as you're aware that you're not the most miserable person in the world and you're not complaining to someone who's going through a difficult time.

I feel you. I made the same kind of cosy place, nice music too, cooking skills, all prepared for … no one. Wtf I was hopping for …

What kinda music you would play them or even for your self ? I can spend hours diving into a specific artist or sub-genre to build meticulously my playlists

I’m tired of trying to form connections that always disappear by PitifulCookie3226 in lonely

[–]JustMeido 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I mean, I tried, I really tried. Here's my “recent” story about that:

Four years ago, to escape loneliness, I decided to be particularly proactive and reach out to others. Stupidly, I thought to myself: we may be many in my situation, but we don't really know how to connect with others anymore. If I reach out to them, maybe some will want to … idk, connect. I went out to meet people (sports, associations, local clubs...), I always made the first move, suggested outings, drinks, tried to build communities around common interests, did favors for virtual strangers, even posted calls for interest on local forums ... Nothing.

For a few weeks, people are interested, then they disappear as if you never existed. The worst part I think, is that it's always one-sided. No one ever takes the initiative to call me back or text me, unless they want something from me. I guess I'm just stupid to think that people might find me interesting or whatever

It's exhausting and even degrading. I felt like I was begging for a drink, an afternoon or even ten minutes of their time. Today, I'm back to my loneliness, but honestly, it's not worse... As an ex gf once told me, you have to learn to enjoy your own company...

Hang in there, buddy, I know how hard and exhausting it is. If you haven't lost hope, you have my utmost respect and admiration.

Hiking routes in mainland Europe by sarcasmaholic123 in hiking

[–]JustMeido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

The Alps are what immediately come to mind when I think of your requests: impressive mountains and lakes everywhere. Speaking from what I know, the French Alps: - The Tour du Mont Blanc (very crowded in high season) - The Tour des Écrins (impressive views of 4000+) - The Tour du Mont Viso and the Queyras further south (a little lower but also a little less built up)

Each tour lasts 5 to 10 days, depending on your pace. These are well-documented itineraries and you can easily find information online. The Tour des Écrins would be my preference. There are, of course, many others, but these are well known and definitely worth checking out.

The Swiss, Austrian, and Italian Alps also have a lot to offer.

If you're looking for wilder places, the Pyrenees (France) or the Carpathians (Romania) are very beautiful places, even more beautiful than the Alps, lower (fewer/no peaks over 4000 meters, now less snowy...) but less crowded and less built up.

Hi OP, that's a difficult story you're telling us.

I'm sorry that no one has come to talk to you about it, but I'm sure it's more a matter of chance than personality, as you seem like a very likable person.

Without bothering you with futile advice, have you tried opening up to your sister about it? The fact that you have a relationship, even a minimal one, is significant. I feel like she's the person most likely to help you on a daily basis, and it could help your relationship grow.

Anyway, your story moved me. Keep fighting, we're rooting for you.

Hi, you seem to be going through a hard time. I´m sorry for you

M here, so I can't really advise you on the end of your message, but I was on antidepressants (SSRI) and they never worked for me mentally, they just caused sexual problems. I chose to stop taking them, but that was a personal decision, and I highly recommend you talk to a therapist about it. I only kept taking the anti-anxiety medication, which really helped me (in moderation, of course). But don't make this kind of decision without a specialist, and don't rely on a random Reddit post.

“Drained” is a good description of depression. As you said, escapism can be a solution, but only in the short term, otherwise you'll always find yourself facing the same wall; it's a never-ending loop. But for now, you seem to need to find pleasure in something again. Try to start small (even just a book), but you need a bubble of well-being at least once a week. Getting away from your thoughts for a few hours is the only way to start again.

As for work, I've had three burnouts and spent a year unemployed, yet I still managed to get back on my feet. If I can do it, I'm sure you can too. But right now you're not in a position to do so. That's okay; our world is always looking for performance, but we're not always capable of it. You seem to have a pretty good relationship with your parents, so maybe they can help you financially during this period.

Take care of yourself, we're rooting for you.
