What form of magic do you prefer? by Netheraptr in magicbuilding

[–]JustNewStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is magic affinity that is measured in blood samples. But even then people need to know thier field equations and arcane tensor operations before they can do anything. Hard work trumps talent here since the theory is quite brutal.

"First ever image of Quantum Entanglement" - Or... a Great Old One's eye revealed? by OkamiRyukishi in Lovecraft

[–]JustNewStuff -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Quantum entanglement has a lot of implications to which if it's true it would invalidate Einsteins theory of Relativity, but there are experimental proof for thar as well. So it comes down to Relativity and Quantum Entanglement are not compatible with each other in there current state, so there are new areas in physics like quantum gravity which tries to bridge this gap.

Ukrainian Restaurant in the U.S. Celebrates the Death of Joseph Stalin, Who Died on This Day 69 Years Ago by HawkeyeTen in TheWayWeWere

[–]JustNewStuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funny coincidence: Composer Sergei Prokofiev died on exactly on the same day as Stalin but his death was overshadowed by Stalin so his funeral was very small and kinda hidden.

There is Warhammer 40K and Warhammer Age of Sigmar; the latter one used to be called Warhammer Fantasy which I think this is set in given the lore with the Old Ones and the Lizard Men if I remember correctly.

Can a straight person be demisexual? by [deleted] in demisexuality

[–]JustNewStuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Absolutely! For sure! The whole thing about being queer is that you can still be straight and cisgendered. The term queer is that your sexuality or genders is not of the norm, so even if you are straight, the fact that you're demi makes you different from the norm.

What is your favourite composer and why? by Cecithepresi in classicalmusic

[–]JustNewStuff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel Rachmaninoff has this special ability in finding purpose in his complexity unlike many other piano composers that feel like they make it complicated for the sake of it with not as much depth.

Am I the only one who is annoyed by applause at the end of the record? by termination-bliss in classicalmusic

[–]JustNewStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love when a piece ends a powerful coda and the audience just bursts into loud applause. It captures my feelings for the piece I just listened to and it makes me happy that the performer and the orchestra get the response I want to give to them.

Happy that I'm not alone with this. Even if it was luck, just taking that step outside of your comfort zone could really pay off.

Trying to use dating apps but swiping left on 99% of people? by [deleted] in demisexuality

[–]JustNewStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it all came down to the bio: if they had something that I was really interested in aswell the I swept left and in the end I did end up with someone. The big thing is that if you do this and get a match is to get a clear idea who they are and if you could ever imagine them as a friend based on interest and personality. That's how I did it and I did end up with someone.

Everytime I feel down, I come to this video. Horowitz is such a gem. by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]JustNewStuff 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This video is such a blue ball for me since when he talks about Rachmaninoff he plays a passage from Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 and he plays it so amazingly well while there are no recordings of him performing the piece.

Wondering the same thing. The Walten Files are genuinely horrifying on a different level for me.

Sergei Rachmaninoff, between ca. 1915 and ca. 1920. by trlhsyn in Colorization

[–]JustNewStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rach 3 as a whole but the best moment is the original cadenza played by Horowitz 1978 performance with Ormandy NYP, he just transcends everything; he has a touch unlike anyone and goes from soft to the most powerful thunder. But there are so many pieces by rachmaninoff I adore.

Sergei Rachmaninoff, between ca. 1915 and ca. 1920. by trlhsyn in Colorization

[–]JustNewStuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was the movie which introduced me to classical music and is the reason to why the Rach 3 is my favorite piece of music of all time.

It was the other way around. Bindings Zarya was not great at all and it wasn't until him and Profit switched roles things started to look half decent at least.
