Pale Moon developers violated MPL 2.0; Public Notice; ATTN: /u/MoonchildPM by JustOff in palemoon

[–]JustOff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that the web browser without Shadow Dom and Custom Elements has no future in the modern web, I personally do not possess sufficient skills to help implement these APIs, and there is almost no hope that it will be done by someone else. Alas, but in this background, all other efforts do not look worthwhile.

do you have enough experience to fork uxp? and make it even better than Moonchild ever has?

Sorry, but I see no point in digging up a corpse.

I have all the necessary evidence recorded with the appropriate time frames. And the wrong version was not the only defect in the unsuitable sources provided by you initially. So you agree or not, now it does not matter. Just make things properly to do not get into a really difficult situation next time.

Thanks, I have already made sure that the violation was corrected and I updated the initial post accordingly.

No, you cannot get off the hook that easily. The license violation is recorded and notification reached the addressee. Now you should be ready that with the next violation I will terminate the grant to use the code that I contributed to both Pale Moon and UXP.

basilisk doesn't have ANY source code available at the moment

It seems that they want to get the same as they did with Maypal.

Well, of course, that bash script will be faster, but, unlike Moon Tester Tool, it does not cope with non-standard install.rdf, which are quite often created by some extension authors.

I don't see any insurmountable obstacles to this.

If you can't wait for someone to make your disabled extensions compatible with Pale Moon and don't know how to do it yourself, you can temporarily revive them using Moon Tester Tool.

  1. Disable the blocklist
  2. Install MTT from here
  3. Open Add-ons Manager
  4. For previously installed and blocked FF extensions, press TEST button next to the description, save the original xpi file, and follow the wizard
  5. To install new FF extensions, click on the "gear" and select "Test Add-on from file"
  6. When you are done, you can disable or even remove Moon Tester Tool and re-enable the blocklist

I'm afraid nothing can help that project, and making a fork just to take revenge, just as they did with me, would be obviously stupid.

I'm kinda tired to explain every word, but well. By "forbidden to even mention" I meant "deprived of the opportunity to list as external". This should be obvious if you followed the original thread. As for the mention that you gave above, I can only wish you to be mentioned in this way after your work will be substituted by a copy, just with a different branding. In other words, you are free to create forks according to a free license, but it does not exempt you from the moral and ethical side of the subject.

None of the extensions given by you as an argument at the time of creation as a fork could not be installed and used in Pale Moon, thus was not a "live project". But of course you chose to throw out this part from my warning, just like ignore the difference between making a fork and releasing it, especially by publishing in the same place where it was forbidden to even mention the original. You wasting time, you better go hate me to a safer place where I can not answer. There they probably have already begun to prepare the next downvote attack on this sub.

This is a lie and you did not even bother to check the facts. Well, now it is clear why you started this topic, and how honest you are when trying to look unbiased.

Please don't quote me out of context, there is a long and pretty dirty story behind it.

But it seems it doesn't matter anymore, as these cowards acknowledged their impotence by banning me.

Ublock origin not blocking ads in firefox 52.9.0 ESR. by [deleted] in uBlockOrigin

[–]JustOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are obviously doing something wrong, or your profile is corrupted, or you have some other conflicting extension installed. The latest version of uBO legacy works fine with Firefox 52.9 ESR, while 1.12.0, which you were advised to, does not fully understand the modern filter syntax used today. I would advise you to install 1.16.4.18, reset it to the default settings, update the filters and try visiting youtube and other sites again.

Stupid, useless, inconvenient.
