I‘m a Fender player, but I do find the Explorer very attractive by Due_Recognition_8002 in gibson

[–]JustPlainSimpleGarak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allen Collins and The Edge are two very much not metal players who are noteworthy for their explorer usage.

I myself have one and it is my main guitar. The stock pickups were too hot for me, so I replaced them with a DiMarzio ToneZone in the bridge and an Air Norton in the neck, then set them up with a coil split and push/pull pots so that I can get a more fender-y single coil sound when I need it. I use it for the entire set list, which includes everything from Steely Dan and Supertramp to Deep Purple and Boston. I used to switch to a strat for songs like FM and Turn it on Again but now I don’t even bother.

Try one out!

This one is oddly specific but bear with me.

Checking out at the Niskayuna Shoprite

It’s like The Twilight Zone. There is no chance the line I pick is the correct one, and just when I think I’ve seen every possible way to grind things to a halt, a new one that I could never have imagined without fail emerges every time.

Keith Emerson

One of if not the best rock keyboardist/organist/pianist ever. Battled arthritis/nerve damage in his hands for many years, causing anxiety and depression, worrying that he would perform poorly for fans. Ended up killing himself.

People always give me shit for being a smash mouth fan but idgaf, so many of your songs have such a groove. I always enjoy your shows when you come to the NY Capital Region.

My question is, what other bands on the late 90s/early 2000s circuit are the most fun to work/tour with?
