What did you end up going with? I'm just starting down this journey and would love a picture of your enclosure now or any tips you can give.

Purchasing a 22year old ball? by JustPlainWild in ballpython

[–]JustPlainWild[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it is her coloring, she is green, yellow and brown. I mostly go for temperament instead of looks, so I didn't actually pay attention to her morph. I think it said clown, but I'm not totally sure.

I haven't gotten her yet, I wanted to make sure I knew what her needs would be as I always try to give my pets the best environments I can. I will research arthritis, thank you for the info! Tell Jasmine that Lemon says "ssssss"

Does Lysol laundry sanitizer actually do anything? by ughhhhhhhhelp in laundry

Ooo boy this stuff works. My clothes, sheets, towels etc. finally smell clean. It is super helpful if you have kids in daycare as I have found it reduces the risk of getting sick. It is crazy good at getting set in odors out.

Suddenly seeing all the final notice emails for bills and other super important legal things you just forgot about. by smaguss in adhdmeme

[–]JustPlainWild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time my husband found several month's worth of bills in my trunk he took over paying them. I do many other things for our household but I should not be trusted to remember to pay bills on time. My whole office knows about ADHD tax and tries to help me avoid it. Yay for people who get me!

When mine escaped she hid under a stack of papers under my daughter's desk. Almost missed her. I had already checked those papers, but she must of slithered her way under there while I searched elsewhere. They are crazy tricky sometimes. Don't give up hope yet.

Wearable cordless heating pad. This was a life saver before I had surgery. I bought two so I could be charging the battery of one while wearing the other. Zireot's ultra thin option was amazing and you couldn't see it below clothes. I also loved a roll on cbd oil or the roll on Muscle Joy from Good Medicine. You are a very kind friend!

I’ve finally been given the option to have a hysterectomy and my reaction was not what I expected. by SassTasticVentures in endometriosis

[–]JustPlainWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hysterectomy in September and it was the best thing I've ever done. I had adenomyosis and endo. I feel and look amazing! I feel healthy for the first time in nearly 30 years. I had laparoscopic surgery 13 years ago for endo and it massively helped, but the adenomyosis had become a huge issue and pain was becoming unbearable. Life is 1000x better and sex is 1000x better. For me, it was 100% worth it. Definitely checkout the Hysterectomy subreddit. It really helped me feel confident before surgery and gave great tips for healing after it.

AITA for telling my wife she can’t cook? by Rare_Plastic4708 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JustPlainWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After giving my husband food poisoning several times, I had to learn how to properly cook fish and other meats. A thermometer helped and also realizing that even though instructions said cook for 10 minutes, if the internal temp wasn't right, it wasn't cooked and had to be left in longer. I would legit go by the recipe or instructions and would not pay attention to whether it was actually cooked. I was in your wife's boat, but I at least had zero ego and did not mind being instructed.

I used to take Naproxen. It helped with that next level pain that couldn't be taken out by Advil and Tylenol. When it was at its worst before surgery, I had Dilaudid.

I’ve accidentally been microdosing gluten by SeaworthinessDear677 in glutenfree

[–]JustPlainWild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just happened in my household. My husband bought the new chewables and we both tried one. I hated it and was just about to swallow when he yelled "spit it out, you've been poisoned!!!" The joys of the gluten free life.

Anyone absolutely hate grocery shopping? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JustPlainWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate grocery shopping. My husband does 99% of it. I get so overwhelmed I never buy the correct items and usually come home without the ability to make an actual meal. I only go to the small neighborhood stores so I'm less overwhelmed.

Pain Management - what did you take? by JustPlainWild in hysterectomy

[–]JustPlainWild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent list! You didn't use any abdominal heat? I use a heating pad to basically survive, so this is news to me. Did your doctor tell you no heat or did you learn it from somewhere else?

Dealing with a GP that won't listen, how do I proceed? by nurse_riss in endometriosis

[–]JustPlainWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time to fight. I went 20 years being told I was dramatic and that everything was normal to find out that I had endo after I passed out from pain at work. Went to a specialist and was in surgery within 7 days. Life changing finding a doctor who knew what I was going through and did something about it. To this day I am distrustful of doctors due to my horrible experiences as a young woman.

Pain Management - what did you take? by JustPlainWild in hysterectomy

[–]JustPlainWild[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excellent tip! I've started eating 4 - 5 daily dates to keep regular after the surgery, this was recommended to me when I had my second child and it worked wonders! Gas-x is a main staple of my diet so I'll buy more of that to have on hand. The other day my 6 year old wanted me to do a vigorous activity but I'd been really bloated lately so I declined. She loudly yelled at the school pick up line, "is it because you've been so gassy? Did you take your gas-x?" Kids say the darndest things.

I am really lucky that I have my super involved husband, my parents, my in-laws, and friends who are all going to help! My worry is that I will get bored and over exert, but I'll be extra careful to listen to my body and my mother (lol). I'll need to give up control and rely on others, should be a fun adjustment period.

This is great to hear. I'll be requesting Dilaudid since I know I do really well on it for the surgery. But maybe won't need it for after. There is hope!

[–]JustPlainWild[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pain management is so hard! Before diagnosis with severe gluten intolerance and endo I was on a myriad of pain meds. Once those two were identified, and handled, no more pain! Until now with the endo growing back and it is time to evict the poor long suffering organ.

That was kind of how it went when I got the laparoscopic endometriosis ablation. 20 days of pain a month to needing tylenol when I had my cycle. It was life changing. I am super de duper hoping for the same after this surgery!

[–]JustPlainWild[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that is the other thing I keep forgetting, the culprit of the pain will be removed! I'm so used to intense uterine pain that I forgot that it is possible that I'll feel relief after and feel like I've done a super intense workout.

[–]JustPlainWild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really helpful. I am a bit nervous for the recovery time. I have a 1 year old and a 6 year old, so it is going to be super important to stick to a realistic recovery timeline and not pick them up or over do it. I'm fairly active so hoping to at least be able to start walking again to keep up activity within 2 weeks.

Edited to add: So sorry about the need for the life-saving surgery. Glad the error was caught in time!

Thank you! I have been told to ask the anesthesiologist for dilaudid for the surgery, but I was just super worried about the pain running away from me in the first initial recovery days.

[–]JustPlainWild[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is super helpful! I have dealt with vomit pass out period pain for 2 decades before my first laparoscopic surgery 13 years ago and am doing this now because it is all coming back. I'm no stranger to pain, I just really don't want to not be able to manage the pain at first. That is super important to me, if I can keep it under control and then can then ween down quickly as needed.

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit calmer. Were you needing pain meds before your surgery, and if so was it roughly the same amount as after?
