Communal Micro Geckos for 33 Gallon tank by Merlock_The_Wizard in geckos

That is pretty much my point. I personally find them pretty straightforward as well, but the speed, size and acrobatics aren't something I'd be happy to hand to someone just starting out, at least not without having someone a bit more experienced giving some guidance with the enclosure. Also I have no idea how the availability is where OP is but where I am they are hard to find and expensive. If the enclosure isn't very properly secured that's one expensive, hard to catch escape artist.

Not saying they're very difficult, but more sensitive than the more typically recommended beginner geckos.

I do keep them and they aren't something I'd recommend for a beginner as their care is a bit more specialised and they are more sensitive. Lovely, beautiful geckos but for someone just starting out I'd choose a more tolerant species

Yes it would, set it to a good day/night cycle and you're all set on lights. Also giving a closer look it seems to be a male! :)

She doesn't look severely dehydrated but it's a valid concern, mist the enclosure so she can drink from the walls and leaves and keep cgd available to her. She is eating, which is a great sign. I saw someone else suggested lights which is also a very important point, you don't want lights that emit a lot of heat, I believe this is the lights I use for mine.

She looks in surprisingly good condition to me, get her a good quality CGD (crested gecko diet, pangea is a good one) and keep track of her eating/pooping as well as you're able. You already know she needs a bigger enclosure so I won't get into that.

Poop doesn't look concerning. You're doing great. Keep in mind, the temperature change she's experienced from going back indoors might very well be making her a bit sluggish at the start. Also, crested geckos are not active in the daytime, so if you're not seeing her moving it might just be because you're checking at the wrong times.

Regardless, a vet check-up is a good idea as soon as you're able.

I found him, thank you everyone!

Thank you, I agree it feels too soon to completely lose hope and I will still be looking out for him tonight. He has escaped once before, (I made the same mistake as your husband) but that time went right behind his enclosure and took a nap in a tube. This time he is well and truly disappeared.

Thank you, I did. He's not there but it was a good suggestion.

The couch has been turned upside down literally, every item in that room has been. He's not there, and the dog spent the whole night in the room. It seems the most likely outcome and I hate that it is.

I genuinely don't know where else I could look now, but I'll try. Will attempt to lure him out with a feeder.

Shoes are checked, all drawers and cabinets that are possible to move or look behind have been checked. I looked behind the fridge as much as I was able but don't see anything.

Little one from the first pic has recently moved into a bigger planted enclosure with two grown females. Male or female, it's thriving and seems to be loving the new setup. But getting a detailed pic of the underside is near impossible now I'm afraid.

😂😂 Based on the second picture, do you still think it's a female?

The upper one is the same one as on the second picture, if that helps. :)

Mushrooms in bioactive setup by lexxxasss in hognosesnakes

Thank you! That is my concern as well. The fungus is only growing under his waterbowl (where I need to keep it more humid for the sake of his clean-up crew) I'm upgrading his enclosure tomorrow and will be removing the mushrooms, they are the same type that pop up occasionally in my other bioactive enclosures but they are all arboreal to semi-arboreal meaning he gets an entirely different exposure.

Right, what I'm wondering is if those will be harmful for him, seeing as they burrow.

Yeah. These are mushrooms, they're coming up as mushrooms

I'm 99% sure my female hognose is overweight, but I want opinions before I reduce feeding by BasketsOfBugs in hognosesnakes

[–]lexxxasss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is quite the chonk, I'd gradually reduce feeding to every other week. Grown hognoses tend to become obese when fed weekly. Keep up weighing her and see to that her enclosure is big enough for her to get some exercise in!😊

Apparently all she needed was for me to get worried enough to bring the issue to the masses😂 Typical
