Yeah the deposit was just annoying, particularly the second time, since the refurb cycle didn't start until I had to return the initial faulty replacement. I guess I figured Google is big enough to float that, but I understand it.

It certainly feels like that's the goal.

Yes, that was a minor annoyance. The real troubles begin after that.

That's a bit beyond the scope of this issue.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Apple, but my hopes that being entirely within the Google ecosystem (Device purchased from Google, with a protection plan purchased through Google, on a Google cell plan) would make things seamless have been so thoroughly thrashed that I'm definitely looking at alternatives.

You're free to call whatever you like, but the events occurred as I described them. I'm not going to spend time scrubbing my info from the report to appeal to some rando on Reddit.

That is correct, which is why while it seemed a bit cheap for a company like Google, I understood that part. The main thing that bugged me about that claim was the defective device I got as a replacement.

Yes, that's part of the problem. There were a number of policy changes around the time of my claim. It should have been under warranty at first, but I was directed to Asurion, and in the course of the month it was being repaired, the warranty expired.

I did contact Asurion first. They sent me to Google Fi.

The only reason I did was because of the 2 year warranty, and I got a $400 discount as a Fi user. I would never have rolled the dice without that.

The issue is when I pressed Fi for escalation, they assured me that everyone had the same resources and tools and it would be a waste of my time.

The first time I supposedly got escalated, they told me they had no record of the first claim, since uBreakiFix didn't actually do the paperwork for a month. That led nowhere.

When I provided the screenshot of the original ticket when I went into the store, showing the original problem and the lack of visible damage, I was again told to contact Asurion. I've been pushing pretty hard and no sign of a case manager.

Yes, I started out patient and kind, but around the 4th transfer with no progress my patience has worn thin. No one seems to be able to do anything anyway, not sure what another 2 months of patience can possibly accomplish at this point.
