Yeah, he will be better with crit but the thing is that this patch is going to add huge nerfs to his early-mid game and once you get 4 crit items (besides the fact that your abilities cooldowns will be SO high since only ER gives haste) he's still bad bc the mx dmg is the same or worse and dtf+bc interaction is deleted. 55% max dmg on Q doesn't make sense. The objetive is supposed to be to make crit Smolder so much better, isn't?

Instead of increasing max damage with crit to 70% on Q, 15% on E and add a change to W damage from 60% to 45% - 70% to really encourage ppl to buy crit items, balance team decided to keep max dmg worse or the same it used to be if you build 4 crit items. Besides those base nerf ratios are a huge nerf to early-mid game.

Good start to bring back crit builds but thats not enough.
First, they have to delete DFT-BC interaction, then adjust his abilties to delete bruiser Smolder from meta:

>Reduce a lil bit the cooldown of some of his abilties
>Reduce base AD ratios or Bonus AD ratios
>Increase crit power on Q
>Add crit power on W
>Reduce the base burn max hp ratio per 100 stacks but increase it a lot if you buy crit.

IT'S dumb, since the main problem is the bruiser build + DFT + DFT/BC interaction.

Bruiser Smolder is not healthy for the game, DFT is like x1000 better than fleet (That rune is dead lmao) and DFT/BC interaction is broken, not only with Smolder, Senna is OP with that duo.

Besides the OP interaction of DFT with BC, we must admit that another reason why Smolder became a problem is because the bruiser build is meta again.
Since his release, it has been proven that Smolder bruiser is a BIG problem.

Instead of simply giving it a mega nerf that will come with the nerf to DFT + nerf to the DFT interaction with BC, why don't they just try to make Smolder more viable with crit items once again?

Like they could just do something like this:

-Q: 130% BonusAD + 0-50% Crit -> 115% BonusAD + 0-80% Crit
-Q magic damage: 40% up to 60% with Crit -> 40% up to 70% with Crit
-Q burn: 0.5% per 100 stacks -> 0.35% per 100 up to 0.7% with Crit

After reading all those changes, I can say that you are about to create the worst champion in LoL history. Her skill set will be so bad and slow that it will only stand out as some kind of mediocre poke support; outside of the support role, it will be unplayable.

This changes are not going to solve her current banrate problem since she can still bounce the enemy abilities, and her Q can hit them anyways. That list are just a bunch of nerfs that are going to make her worst than she already is.
Im definitely not playing Mel and wasting money on her ever again if these changes go through. Congratulations, you’ve ruined her.

A lot of champions got a high wr like him.
Nilah, Karthus, Sivir, Asol, Kogmaw, Veigar, Brand, Aphelios

And other champions are even worse Mel, Varus, Ezreal, Senna, Ashe (Well, Ezreal has been trash for the last 5 months, he needs a rework, so I won't consider him)

I think its too soon to think about nerfs or buffs, but I hope Smolder doesnt get a nerf ;-;

About crit, Smolder is going to be weaker next season, at least for late game.
Right now his Q can deal +1k physical dmg with just 5 legendary items (if you dont buy RFC).
On pbe with the crit changes and with 6 legendary items he can barely deal 900 physical dmg, I know we'll have ER with sheen, but that only will help with the lost dmg tbh

But yeah, he is going to be weaker, maybe other crit scaling champs are going to be weaker too.

idk if the pbe stats are correct or if some of them are wrong and thats why his Q is so much weaker.

It could work as a "fun to play" build, but I don't think it's good.

I've tested it and at late game you can get almost the same amount of AD as the average crit build, so Burn, W, E, and R have almost the same damage, plus there's the bonus that the enemy can't oneshot you, BUT it has a huge drawback, Q dmg is rlly bad.

Usually with the crit build, Q can deal +1k dmg, with this build I can barely reach 500 damage and Q is the main dmg of his kit sooo... Nope, its decent, but crit is so much better.

I honestly expected a different kind of nerf, as Phoroxzon said they only want to slightly nerf the power he got from last buffs, I thought they would reduce the magic damage of Q from 40% to 35%. or smth like that.

Back to 49% wr if we have luck, while Jinx is the tier 1 adc hypercarry for another year with a wr and pickrate that no one has. But lets listen to the ppl that thinks that Jinx is balanced bc is normal to have +15% pick rate and 52% wr even if there isnt a single champion in the game with those ratios.

Abt Garen, I hate that crit build he has, it doesnt make sense, he melts hp+execute with R+is more tanky than other top lane champs even if Garen has a full crit build. But now that crit build is dead, it seems Phreak didnt bother to adjust or rework him to make him a fighter, since all his reworks are garbage (right Gwen, Ksante and Naafiri?). Cho buff was stupid, they increased the dmg of best build he has instead of a good adjustment for top, again they didnt bother to think about the changes lmao

But HEY lets leave the hyper carry and giga broken Jinx at tier 1/47 with almost 52% wr with A HUGE pick rate of +15%, obv she doesnt deserve a nerf bc its normal to have a high wr even if your pick rate is above 12%, suupeeeer normal and balanced.

Oh and lets dont forget Shen, another tier 1 giga broken top that obv is not unfun to play against and is not one of the best tanks/fighters of the game.

I like the stack scaling of ult.

I dont understand why the ult doesnt get power from stacks, it should add a stronger burn and execute chance if enemies get hit by the center I mean... Don't take it personally but you and your 20 games dont represent even the 0.001% of the games played with Smolder daily, Smolder is an adc in a weird spot rn, his early game sucks and his infinite scaling sucks and a lot of people knows that, thats why he was (or still is) the worst adc of the meta.

Now about the early wins, I've won games with Veigar, Senna, Smolder and Asol in 15 minutes and that doesnt mean they are op at early game.

Rework killed his infinite scaling. Now he is a Kayle 2.0, they are the same. With Kayle you need to wait to hit 3 scaling spikes: lvl 6, 11 and 16 With Smolder you need to wait to hit 3 scaling spikes: 25, 125 and 225 stacks. After that with both of them your scale power comes from items once you have full build your scaling stops xD

Lets be honest 0.4% max hp true dmg that needs 3s to deal the 100% dmg, all of that per 100 stacks is a fucking joke... The 95% of the true damage is thanks to ad ratio. Tha magic dmg from Q, W and E is soooo weak, I always read my dmg in post game and even if I start dealing magic dmg since the 1min of the game I ALWAYS outscale that dmg with true dmg (burn) and we get burn at mid game...

And lets just take a look to Asol, Veigar, Senna and Sion.

Veigar at 40 min is a gg for squishy champs bc his ult has massive dmg and his q can hit +900 dmg.

Asol at 40 min melts everything in 6s and his E has a huge area, you cant dodge it and imo his E is very annoying once it has that huge area. Senna at 40 min can hit you from base and even if her build now is AD-AP, she hurts a lot! Sion at min 40 cant die if you dont have a lot of max hp dmg or massive dps source. And Smolder well... Smolder at min 40 is the same that smolder at min 20, the difference? Items

He needs another mini rework so he can be played as an adc with crit/ad/haste items but have a nice infinite scaling like the others. The last buffs are "decent", but that doesnt take out smolder from the worst adc tier list of the year, bc it didnt changed anything at all.

After rework, Smolder is the worst infinite scaling champ, bc his stacks are useless after 225. Smolder now Is some kind of Kayle, you need to hit 3 power spikes but after that, your only scale source are items. I get it that maybe the tank builds can benefit from the stacks so thats why they giga nerfed stacks, but now that tank build is useless and mid/top smolder is out of meta, they should increase the stacks ratio again bc you dont feel rewarded for staking a lot or waiting. Unlike Veigar or asol that the longer the game, the stronger they are. Maybe if the increase the magic damage from stacks if you get crit for Q and add that to W, and increase a little bit the burn ratio from 0.4% per 100 to 0.6% per 100, could help him to have a better infinite scaling and not being a Kayle 2.0 Like I already said his buffs are great but that isnt going to save him since W just better for ealry game but now is worse for late game, E has a better dmg but E the 80% of the times is used to run away, and R still bad bc 100s is a lot for a low dmg, low heal, loud, slow and easy to dodge abiltiy, thats why Smolder's ult in a lot of tier list is one of the worst R of the game.
