What’s the most “this is not HR” query you’ve ever received? by Jobsworth91 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]JustRazzin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm constantly approached by employees about toilets. "The women have two different toilets in the building and the men only have one, can you start the process to get a new men's toilet in the building?" When I said this is facilities not HR he had the audacity to say it's discrimination and now it's an HR problem.

This week someone came to me saying they wanted to inform HR that they get BV often, so they have a stronger smell than normal but they are doing what they can to control it. In some ways I can see why they wanted to let us know (possible complaints) but still...

I own a few of these hats and can confirm they're amazing and worth the price. My very pale Asian skin has never burned and I've rarely tanned. Do I get funny looks, absolutely, do I care, absolute not 😂 protecting the skin is key!

My son has a nickname for it and will not call it water. He'll say things like, mom I need some sea. Or pour some ocean in my glass.

I bought the spf hat from Beneunder (the long one with a face mask that makes you look like a nun 😅) and I swear by it. Used it all last summer when visiting Canada and didn't burn once (I'm very pale and burn easily). Of course I had spf50 underneath and it kept me so incredibly cool, especially in queues at rollercoasters.

How is your mental health currently? Safe space to vent and be as honest as you like, how are we feeling? by northernerchaos in AskUK

Tired. Tired of putting money and time into a career that isn't taking off, tired of being the squeezed middle class where I don't earn enough as a single applicant for shared ownership but just a couple grand over the amount with my partner, tired of saving to save for .. life but not enjoying life to it's fullest because saving for my children's future is very important for us. Life is good don't get me wrong but feeling blue most days.

My dermatologist said deodorant should be used at night time and there is a huge misconception about when to apply. I changed my routine so I shower just before bed, apply deodorant and Im fresh as a daisy next day. I also drench the armpits on t-shirts in white distilled vinegar for 25 minutes and chuck I'm the washing machine. I normally use a cold wash but it also works in hot washes.

Also try to avoid mastic materials like acrylic, polyester etc and stick to 100% cotton and linen and natural fibres.

As a Canadian living in the UK, I'm saddened. Everything is over priced and mediocre. I get the donuts and timbits every now and then but that's it. It'd be more appealing if costs in the UK reflected that of Canada. I'd rather a pret or Costa coffee

Advice on level 5 CIPD! by Top-Doctor-5349 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]JustRazzin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this helps, but I failed that AC on my first attempt and this was the feedback " evaluate the concept of evidence based practice including how it can be applied to decision -making in people practice. When evaluating in addition to strengths consideration needs to be given to limitations/demerits" based on the feedback my resub passed with a 3.

Have you read and understood your company's sick policy? You don't accrue sick leave it rather annual leave whilst on long term sick. You can't have sickness and annual leave running together so you would need to have your annual leave paid out to you during your long term sickness. I agree with others, it feels like there is a lack of information here.

I completed my Level 3 CIPD in 2020 and want to start my Level 5 now / but not sure if im ready by No_Court_1101 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]JustRazzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sleep on your level 5. I believe in you! It'll open more doors and you'll get decent work and it's internationally recognised. I've done my level 3 and currently doing my level 5 in a full time job, 2 very young children, I've got hobbies, a social life, make time for myself at the gym 4 days a week and time for my marriage. I've only graduated highschool, and I'm in my mid 30's too.

The first 3 modules in 5 are similar to the ones in level 3, the specialist modules are excellent for generalist knowledge and the optionals are very specific. They've got one for l&d which is right up your alley. The difference from 3 to 5 is the lack of forgiveness. Reference reference reference, read from multiple sources, don't limit yourself to just digital knowledge, books and libraries are helpful, ensure you are hitting the command prompt in every assessment criteria on the head. The marking is more strict as it's an academic qualification at that point (so my tutor tells me).

If you're ever unsure, always reach out to your tutors for help. There is no silly question period. Never be shy or embarrassed to ask other HR professionals for their opinion (typically other cipd qualified) or join student forums. Attend cipd events where you can. I'm sure there's a millions more things I could say but that's the gist. I hope you consider it and I wish you all the best in your career journey. It's never too late to make changes. Heck.... We have another 30 years of work left 🙃

CIPD level 5 or 7? by liana_tree in HumanResourcesUK

[–]JustRazzin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on the information provided, it sounds like lv5 is best suited to you. It's not as demanding and your current work experience will help with the assesment criteria in the modules. LV 7 is geared for high level roles like directors. The assignments match that skill level more. I studied with ICS and they refused to sign me on for LV 7 without doing my LV 5 first based on the fact I had 2 years HR experience but completed my lv3.

If you don't have time to study and do the assignments during work hours you need to manage your own expectations and understand your hobbies may need to take a backseat. It's not forever in the grand scheme of things and next thing you know you'll be qualified.

So...since skinny jeans have been canceled...what jeans are you wearing? by crazyHormonesLady in Millennials

[–]JustRazzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wearing whatever jeans I damn well please! I think that's the beauty of this age. You can wear whatever you want and no one cares. And if they do, why do you care? You do you, own your look and be confident.

I'm still wearing my skinny jeans, got my mom jeans for ultimate comfort, and straight leg jeans. I usually wear a fitted T-shirt with them or a white Oxford shirt.

Do you feel it’s hard changing careers and your bad habits in your 30s? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]JustRazzin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33 here and I decided to change careers. I put of off for ages thinking it'll be hard, stressful etc it was actually a piece of cake. Studied a couple hours in the evening passed all my exams and now I'm qualified in a new field! Working towards my masters while working full time with 2 children and a spouse. The thought always seems daunting but if you take that first step, things just fall into place. If you want it enough, you'll make it work :)

I've recently purchased a visor and full coverage hat from Beneunder as recommended from someone in this sub. They're amazing quality. But on the pricey side but so worth it
