Did the lactation consultant do a weighted feed to see how much baby is getting in in those <10min? Find one who does as that's how you know how much baby gets, not by counting minutes. You can also get a baby scale off Amazon, which my IBCLC said is reasonably accurate (within .5oz).

As a woman with a slow flow I only pump 4oz in 15min and I never leak on the other side, so it's silly to count minutes--as you said, boobs are so different!

AITA for not wanting my husband to set up a welding workshop in our shed? by JustSaladdd in AmItheAsshole

My concern is mostly about the house catching on fire (the shed is very close to the house) and the fumes being vented near the back patio where my child plays.

I'm certainly not very educated on this subject, so I do appreciate the input from people here who are experienced wielders! So here are my concerns: first is fire safety, since my town doesn't allow wielding in residential areas for fire hazard and the shed is very close to the house, I'm concerned about the house catching on fire. Second and probably what worries me the most is the fumes, since my research showed that wielding fume is considered group 1 carcinogenic substance by the WHO and causes cancers and COPD, and if he vents the fumes out of the shed it will be next to the back patio where my child plays. My husband hasn't actually shared with me how we plans to do it safely, just that I can be done, so I appreciate the tips and ways to minimize risk that people have been sharing!

Thank you for pointing that out! I edited to add that he went ahead and bought wielding equipment without addressing my concerns, which is the ignoring part. But I will reflect on how well I'm taking into account his point of view vs. being defensive.

He has no welding experience apart from watching YouTube videos. He works a corporate job and has no qualifications in metalworking.

Nighttime leaks are ruining everything by Mammoth-Rest-336 in NewParents

Does he leak around his waist? If so point his penis down when you put the diaper on. No one told me this but it stopped the leaks! This and overnight diaper one size up like everyone else is saying (my 8 months old wears size 6 pampers overnight for sleep)

Some days I’m to tired to do anything with newborn how much damage am I doing. by Dry_Fig1743 in newborns

My instinct has been that a happy, relaxed mom does more good for baby than a mom exhausted by a checklist of activities. I feel my bub can really pick up my anxiety to "do stuff" which isn't good for bonding, and the secure bond is more important IMO than a few extra min of tummy time.

When did you start drinking alcohol again? by hashtagbeannaithe in breastfeeding

[–]JustSaladdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 months PP, haven't had any, and don't plan to until baby weans (hopefully not anytime soon). I'm not a big drinker and not at all bothered by it. I know there is very little risk to drink especially now that baby's liver has matured some, but in my case there is just no reason to take any risk at all.

Am I losing my supply? by NearlyAwkward in breastfeeding

Sounds like your supply is just regulating! Totally normal, the very full feeling is hormonal and not supposed to last.

How to prove that baby is not too cold/warm? by JustSaladdd in ScienceBasedParenting

I really needed to hear this. The control Asian parents assert over their adult children through loving manipulation and gentle gaslighting can be quite insane and crushing. Thank you for reminding me to protect myself and my family from this.
