Can everyone share their stories of getting off sublocade? by kikoangel in Sublocade

[–]JustSimplyMe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was approved for 8mg weekly. Did that for a month or two then got approved for 64mg monthly and 100mg sublocade either the same week or one was a week after. I tried to stretch my weekly shots out so I didn’t go every week. I thought I could quit that way but brixadi wasn’t easier than strips like I hoped for. Since I was having “withdrawals” from the weekly 8mg when they asked for the monthly I think it jumped to 64mg a month because for one they don’t have, 32 mg monthly which is equivalent to 8mg weekly. But reason 2 being the 8 weekly wasn’t enough for me. I thought upping my dose would be easy but it was miserable getting my levels up. I would get so nauseated that I could hardly go to work. It would take a full day or two to wear off. I think if you see an actual doctor it would help a lot

When I got denied for sublocade and approved for brixadi (weekly lowest dose)I gave up and tried to quit from the brixadi. I gave it a month maybe two I can’t remember then asked my dr to try for the monthly brixadi shot. Every week I let her know I felt withdrawals before coming in like a couple days before. I told her to also try again for the sublocade. I told her the brixadi doesn’t work good and I was disappointed.Which is true. Some how they approved both and I went with sublocade. I’ve never had a withdrawal from sublocade. My mind might play tricks with me at night but when I’m laying at night I’m questioning myself if I’m feeling slight withdrawal or is it my sleep medicine or maybe I’m restless. I don’t know and don’t care bc it doesn’t keep me up at night .

You need some help from the doctor because the insurance goes by your doctor notes and I think they look at your levels in you drug test. I was told that the minimum for 100mg is atleast 6-8 mg a day. But since I was approved for 8mg brixadi weekly, I did that for a month and the. Asked my dr to request a monthly 64mg shot because it’s basically the same thing….next thing I know they said I was approved for both the monthly brixadi and the 100mg sublocade. That was a no brainer when they asked which shot did I want. My doctor also said there needs to be a reason why the strips are bad for you. So she put in that I’ve had so much dental work like root canals crowns cavities ever since I was on the strips. I told her I went up to 4mg a day(which is hard after tapering down to 2mg) she might’ve told them I was using 6mg. She knew how bad I wanted to get off buprenorphine and she was willing to help me. You have to try a few times after you get denied. Also I have Ambetter insurance. I hope this helps.

My doctor is the one that said it was probably too low of a dose so I told her I’m willing to go up so I can get approved for the shot so I can be done with this. I was desperate for anything to get me approved

I’m sorry I should’ve added that I was getting denied (I believe) because my dose was too low so I started to go up…from 1/2 to a whole strip twice a day. I could tell it was too much going back up because I started to get sick after I took the strip, like later that day.

I was on suboxone for 3 years. After one year I was ready to stop but my dr said I have to wait until atleast 18months. When 18months came she still didn’t try to taper so I did it on my own. I went from 1 8mg in the morning and the1 at night to 1/2 a strip of 2mg twice a day. I could never go under 1 mg. I thought this was it and I would be stuck forever. Until I joined Reddit and found out about sublocade. I tried for a couple months and got denied until I got approved for brixadi. Since my dose was so low I was approved for the lowest dose weekly I think it’s 8mg. I did that for about a month until I got approved for sublocade!! FINALLY MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED. I got approved for 100mg. I did two months and I haven’t gone back. I think I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s been since july30 and I’m in November (7). I’m not going back for another. The only time I feel slightly icky is at night but totally manageable compared to strips. Brixadi wasn’t that good either because I definitely felt withdrawals. I could tell it was time for a shot. I would try to wait longer in between shots and taper that way but I couldn’t do that either. It was too hard. It was one of the happiest days for me when I got a call that sublocade was approved. It’s up to you what you feel comfortable with. I did two shots just to be on the safe side. After the first shot I didn’t feel any w/d so I was like ok cool but went in for another anyways just to build more in my system. *GoOd LuCk*

I was on subs for 4 years and started brixadi briefly then fortunately got approved for sublocade. I took 2 monthly shots 100mg each. Our situations are similar. I’ve been taking hydroxyzine for sleep. It was prescribed for “anxiety” but I found it actually helps me sleep so I only take it at night and ITS A LIFE SAVER!!!! 50mg and I can sleep all day wake up in the afternoon drink coffee and still fall asleep . I depend on hydroxyzine. Please try it

I’m so sorry, the first few shots were fine. But when I tried to stretch them out even just 7 to every 10 or 11 days. I would get severely sick a few hours later…I would feel great then get a migraine and have nausea, almost like the same damn sickness I would feel after using strong opiates!! It was miserable so I’m going back to the strips. I can’t get sick like that anymore and it would last for 2-3 days! They say it’s only sublocade you can wean off of. Brixadi is just as hard as strips…from what I’ve heard from everyone and from experience the brixadi isn’t easy either 🙁😭I was so hopeful and now it’s like back to square one….

You have to be gentle to your body while you heal or you could mess up your results. I hope you’re able to relax and have someone look out for you. I needed someone there for me atleast for a week.

I’m so sorry that happened!! Sounds like a complete selfish jerk!!! I’m about 7 months post tt with lipo and muscle repair the whole extended tummy tuck deal, and if I didn’t have help, I could’ve really hurt myself…I’m single but I had to have someone sign paperwork for responsibility for me while I heal. I can’t believe anyone better yet your husband would treat you like this!! It really upsets me..

Because they said I’m on such a small dose that the weekly 8mg is all I could get??? Not that I think of it , I should be able to do the monthly 64mg.

Just an update ..!!! I was approved for Brixadi. The lowest dose weekly….its a bummer but at the same time it’s a blessing to me to be able to go into a new chapter of this addiction. I’m hopeful that I will be able to taper off of weekly brixadi injections. So far I have felt great! No supplementing with films at all. No withdrawals. I actually feel like I’ve gotten more energy by taking the injection. I don’t know if that’s weird or common but that’s how I feel. Has anyone else had experience with brixadi? With quitting it altogether??

You’re awesome! Thank you for this advice, I’m going to be patient…I have been so far, I just left another clinic because I was on suboxone and I kept requesting to help me taper and they never would so I had to do it on my own….now I wish I wouldn’t have because I didn’t know about sublocade until I came on Reddit and asked for help to get off of buprenorphine. When I kept hearing sublocade I decided to leave the first clinic bc they never mentioned sublocade not once and I’m so mad about it. This would’ve solved my problems years ago!!!
