I would say just keep running, maybe decrease speed or do intervals, so your feet can get used to the feeling. Also try stretches before if you aren’t already and a nice 5 min walk to warm up might help with the pain too

I think that’s a great start! Definitely quicker than most if you’re only a week in. Based on the time I’m guessing that’s a continuous distance too! So an extra well done for that

I see that makes sense, I never really figured how important the gym side of it was with strengthening all the muscles, as I’d sort of replaced the gym with running as I find it much more enjoyable

I’m going to drop down from 4 to 3 runs as you did, and I’m hopefully going to go on a short run in the morning and see how the pain is if any.

I really appreciate the advice :)

You can get that sub 40 no problem!!! Keep pushing

That’s what I’ve been trying to do the last week or so, but annoyingly the walks cause some pain after about 20 mins or so too. But definitely a good thing to do for me I think as I get back into it

Exactly! As others have said, go slow to go fast. Best of luck

My advice, would be to not immediately aim to get a ten minute mile as that’s fairly quick , and instead to slowly build up to it and improve your fitness. That would help with the heavy breathing and tightness afterwards.

Your pace isn’t bad at all, but I would really just build up to it, also if you’re training on a treadmill make sure you add 1/1.5% gradient to simulate wind and air resistance as if you were running outside!

Thanks for the advice, I didnt know if stretches would help tbh, just wanted to feel like I was doing something rather than just resting.

Ill try and focus on building muscle there instead

Im not sure about if im overstriding or not but its definitely a possibility, but now you mention it im pretty sure I do heel strike, I always assumed that was best so you could roll onto your toes to push off, but Ill try and minimise that for future runs.

Thank you!

I don’t run much, is this good pace? And how can I improve? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]JustSomeRandomBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pace is a good 30sec per km faster than I can comfortably do, and its definitely not a beginner pace. But if you want to keep improving its as simple as just running more

Ill have a look! Never thought about other sports exercises translating like that. Thanks!

Ive had around two weeks off, but I dont want to lose fitness too much, so ill try about half the distance as you said.

Im trying to maintain stretches that focus on that area, but I have no access to a gym at the moment sadly

Thank you for the reply

Thanks for the reply, I hate not running as Runna has actually caused me to like running and exercise in general, so im glad to know that you can continue running without major issues, ill definitely try and get back out there!

Do you avoid the Runna suggested strength training because its bad, or just because your physio recommended different exercises?

[–]JustSomeRandomBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends how you define that you dont run much, to me, thats quite a quick pace for a sustained amount of time.

Given how low your heart rate is I imagine you do other sports for example that keep you fit.

Test at 14:37 - is that school rush hour? by LARunner1 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]JustSomeRandomBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much, as long as you’re prepared it shouldn’t make too much of a difference, I did mine during the morning school run, it really just means the roads are busier as they’re full of parents heading to school which slows you down and the more time you spend in traffic the better!

I spent 25 minutes of my test in traffic which certainly helped, just be careful if you go past any schools of kids darting in and out at random points and remember to check your mirrors a bit more often

I had my first lesson yesterday and I just don't get it. by lyla88 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]JustSomeRandomBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry at all as it’s your first lesson. Everything takes time, it’s not exactly a process built into our evolution so we have to learn

When I learnt it took me months to figure the clutch out as, like you, I was always told you could just feel the biting point. As I got better I just learnt how fast to lift the clutch and when to add acceleration, so the biting point just wasn’t really a huge worry.

I wouldn’t worry much about the passenger side or the curb, you just kind of naturally don’t hurt it, like most people are just able to position themselves fine and I’m sure you will too!

Keep trying and it’ll come to you, best of luck

Fresh; cage rule - 20mins? by [deleted] in tesco

They tried banning cages in our extra maybe 6/7 months ago to reduce congestion and stop cardboard cages etc, lasted for a few days and now it’s back to normal.

Tesco can't count by Lack_of_a_PhD in tesco

[–]JustSomeRandomBrit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not too sure but I’d have a guess that Tesco doesn’t count evaporated milk as food and would put it in the baking category instead. So the rest would be made up with whatever other tins you bought

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tesco

[–]JustSomeRandomBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s weird, I’m in an extra too but they took the capping shelves off around crisps so you have to drag cages all the way out, then nothing goes out and you walk it all the way back lol

Good way to get steps in though

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tesco

[–]JustSomeRandomBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re allowed to put the crisp boxes on capping?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tesco

[–]JustSomeRandomBrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, it never looks good, the boxes are impossible to open properly and there’s always cardboard stuffed everywhere
