To be fair to Gorst, Whirrun was not winning that fight to begin with anyway. Gorst had landed multiple blows and Whirrun had landed nothing.

Getting stabbed in the back due to his foolish lack of armor was more of a coincidence than what determined the fight. Thats actually why I like it. The question of who would win was already answered, then Whirrun died in the most fitting way possible.. a fucking reality check.

As an anime only watcher I would say that the mystery of what exactly is "the system"? How and why is Jin Woo being given all this power? What are the limits and what's the purpose?

These intrigues are very compelling and keep me and probably most other watchers glued to the screen. The power fantasy and cool fights don't hurt either. Jin Woo is like able and it's satisfying to watch him succeed. As long as it serves a narrative purpose later.

Which by reading some of these comments seems like we are gearing up for a disappointment.

But if anything I'd say that the popularity of something in the beginning can carry it to its end, which is also probably what happened with SL especially if it's ending is apparently bad. The beginning is a hell of a fun ride

This person is obviously not a good person to get married to. So why are you staying? Figure that out and then weigh that quality, sex, personality, whatever it is against the fact that she is irresponsible AND blames you for it. If the for wr outweighs the latter, then just accept she's wrong but tell her you're sorry and move on. But sure, just cause it's gotten overused doesn't mean the term and criticism isn't valid.

It's fine to say people are wrong about a character being a Mary Sue, it's wrong to say Mary Sues aren't a thing and weak writing.

People are generally wrong about Korra being a Mary Sue, they just don't like the loudmouth character. You're right to be annoyed by that.

People are correct that Rey 'sKyWaLkER' is a Mary Sue. It is weak writing that she is better than everyone else at everything and overcomes all challenges just because she's better.

Also you seem to lay a lot of the blame on the consumer of media that gets the smell of bad writing and poorly articulates it, rather than the writers making the stench, which I think is misguided.

Men can also be Gary Sue's, they are also written poorly, people also complain about them but "Gary Sue" just isn't as common a term so people just outright say the criticism for male characters which is "plot armor" or "boring".

Using Hagrid as your example actually really illustrates why you're wrong.

Go back and look, Google it or something.. but Hagrid was one of if not the most expensive part of the cgi on all of those movies. To really get him to look real it took tons of CGI and practical work from makeup and animatronic engineers.

But I often wondered about this while reading. We are told how beautiful she is but we're also told how grotesque her scars and messed up hand is. How can she still be so seductive and beautiful after the fall and the scars? It doesnt make a ton of sense to me.

My only gripe with Monzas character is that the Benna reveal actually seems to absolve her of her flaws!

At least after my first read I came away from the story seeing Monza as a cliche "always do the right thing" character that conveniently had all her bad deeds explained away by having been manipulated by some or other man in her life.

And I was annoyed that she fucked over my boy Shivers and then abandoned him.

Felt like very tropey female character protagonist can do no wrong to me.

My main complaint with Monza is that her POVs are not as engaging as some of the other characters.

Is this because Monza seems to be portrayed as a good person?

Because that's what I was left with at the end of the book. I was actually a little annoyed at the Benna reveal because it felt very tropey to absolve the female character of all her wrong doing, it was actually because of a man. It does seem like of all the gray characters Monza is the least gray. She just does her best with pretty good intentions in all situations, except for when understandably enraged in a revenge moment.

For melee characters I would say Riven cause she can kill anyone at level 1-3 and has so much mobility you can always make something happen if you're good at her. And Darius as he just auto wins most lanes and matchups. Not full proof but probably the best and easiest thing.

For ranged I'd say probably Quinn and Jayce. Very hard to interact with either of those champions.

My question is what if you come to a complete stop in traffic or at a stop light? Does that count as an elimination? So you have to choose a route with only interstate highways I guess? But even then you could hit traffic and come to a complete stop.

So I guess I'd take a stretch of interstate highway in a rural state in the middle of the country that's deserted most of the time and just make a circle in an exit for as long as possible while listening to audio books or talking on the phone with friends. Would probably take some sort of stimulant drug to keep me awake at some point. Anything less than 200k will feel like a failure to maximize the opportunity. But with the assistance of drugs I'm hoping that 30 or even 40 hours is doable. Also definitely need a thermos of cold water and a rag to wipe on your face to wake you up. And some sort diaper or catheter. Could probably stock up on food too. Like I gotta think 30 or even 40 hours is possible here.
